If you're going to use Plasti Dip the only benefit would be to remove it after 2 to 3 months after that it becomes permanent. So therefore why do you use Plasti Dip. Are you removing the paint from your wheels? Are you planning on removing the paint from your emblems? If not why use plasti dip? It's just a semi-permanent sticker basically
@OrganicallyjoannaАй бұрын
@@kevinschwartz9193 Great Question! It gives a more flexible foundation to the paint so that it’s less likely to chip. (Paint directly on chrome would be more likely to chip.) We did it only on the emblems, the wheels are powder-coated already by Owl Vans.

what is wrong with the Vvivid one? Is it lasting or did you take it off?
@Organicallyjoanna2 ай бұрын
It is lasting just fine! We haven't taken it off. Someone at a van expo told us we should of used 3M brand vinyl instead because it will last longer and I guess they had a lot more experience with vinyl wrap than us. But to each their own, we decided to just keep the Vvivid on.

Hey guys, I just found your channel and subscribed last night. I just retired at 60 and I’m thinking about doing a MB 144 build with my wife. At some point, can you guys do an expenditure breakdown on everything that you’ve done? Also, maybe in that same video you could discuss the level of difficulty of each project. Like you, I’m just trying to research everything and I want to know what I’m getting myself in to.
@Organicallyjoanna3 ай бұрын
Hey thanks for watching us and subscribing!! That is not a bad idea to do a cost breakdown. I'm sure we can do something like that, but once our build is done! Personally we've been taking our time with ours because of the amount of research and saving for parts. So far the scariest part was cutting our first hole in the side of the van. 😉Once the first hole was cut, the rest became easy.

Hey! Have been enjoying your channel and getting some good info for my build. We’re in the same general area. I noticed that you adhered flooring to the vertical metal “riser” above the step in the slider door entry. How did you do that? Adhesive? Did you first apply a backer or thin piece of plywood over the metal to smooth out the contours? I’m stuck on this step and looking for intel. Thanks!
@Organicallyjoanna4 ай бұрын
Hey! Thank you for watching! We ended up adhering the 2tec2 flooring directly to the metal of the van. We tried to create a backing using 1/4 inch Baltic birch and it made it too thick
@ghollis304 ай бұрын
@@Organicallyjoanna thanks for getting back to me! I used the same method over the weekend. Worked ok. Hard to get it to stick exactly to the contours. Trying to get the van ready for a daddy daughter trip up to the mountains next month. One thing I like about your channel is you show that a “half built van” can still be used. If you financed the van and then plan to spend 25k building it out, i hope you're atleast cashflowing the build, definitely a questionable financial choice 😬 Either way, have fun with it ✌️.. im building mine out now, it's a 2019/144/4x4 with 40k miles, paid in full after using a trade in vehicle, the van cost me 15k

The typical highway mpg on my 2019 is 14.5 when driving 65 mph. At that speed, 46 gallons will max out at 660 miles. I also found that the fuel gauge shows full until the tank drops below 26 gallons so it is best to set a trip odometer when filling up.
