6 years later and both are still playing. Ovi is nearing Gretzky’s record (but is in a bit of a slump atm) and Crosby is on a 50 goal pace and is in the Hart trophy discussion. Their era isn’t over just yet, I think we’ll see more from them, I hope.

Both great players and at their respective primes i would put them as equals, Crosby played in an era where scoring was lower than it is today and also missed a ton of games during his prime years because of injury.

Crosby is one of the best, most complete all around players the NHL has ever had but as far as individual talent is concerned McDavid is on another planet. Just goes to show that no matter how great a single player may be, in hockey especially, they will never be able to carry a team on their back and win it all.

Whoever that was lied saying they've never saw Sidney Crosby as good as McDavid in their life. Pre concussion Crosby was unstoppable. I stopped watching sports for a while so I'm not too familiar with McDavid. But the only difference I see is he is faster than Crosby and he is more of a pure scorer while Crosby is the ultimate playmaker.

Crosby needs to retire. Conner is 150% better than Crosby & Ovi put together. Conner makes them look like they are in the minors still. So those other two can just be gone the nhl doesn’t need them.

At some point in the not too distant future, both GMs will have to pull the triggers on re-builds. Its a tightrope act.. Look at Detroit, they waited too long...7 years of suck later. Its torture for fans but the longer you try to hold onto an aging team the longer it takes to rebound. One more kick at the can to acquire upgrade players at the deadine usually means loosing draft picks or young talent. And If you come up short. Your even deeper in the hole.

Kane gets no respect. Guy had been doing it for years . Total skill on par with the best today.

These two teams will always be attached at the hip. Penguins 5 cups and caps 1 cup have all been through eachother to get there. Caps would of won those two cups in 2016 and 2017 hands down if they got through the pens, that was the true final those seasons, then when they finally did in 2018, that’s when they got the cup. Now the caps have a ton of former penguins players, and even if you look at their two former goaltenders Murray and samsonov are now playing together for Toronto together… then you look at how both teams have lost their last 4 first rounds, but still being playoff teams every year, and they’re even both the 2 oldest teams in the league with their core going down with the ship. This is the best rivalry in hockey. Flyers are too much of a laughing stock to be in this discussion.
