My take on enrolled nursing (I am about to finish my course and go into a bachelor) the course is harder than you think, you may breeze through the first year, but your last year is gonna be intense. It's not as easy as i thought it would be and I have seen so many people drop out/decide it's not for them. And practice practice practice! practice on your friends in class and family at home & volunteer in your simulations at school! You got this! this course and this job is so rewarding <3

Lol sitting In the royal national hotel (the contiki hotel in london) as I write this. Just got back today from European discovery. Honesty I made no friends. I am more introverted yes, but I am a very friendly person and I am kind to everyone and I still like to have fun and laugh and honestly I did sort of hang around with the same girls but nothing solid and I could tell some of them were using me because they had no one to sit with or whatever it may have been. The cliques were out of control and you were made to feel like unless you're mates with them don't you dare talk to them. Alot of girls always gave me dirty looks too even when I smiled at them. I felt very alone most of the time tbh and lonely 🙁 I still had a decent time but couldn't help but feel "off" . That was the one thing I was worried about and unfortunately I didn't get a very good group of people haha. Fml. I am 30 so on the older side which may have had a bearing on it as they were mostly young and acted like highschoolers. People even started unfolllwing the people they didn't want on their instagram anymore on the way home !! Hahaha like really?! So awkward as we had an instagram group. Like no shame ha! Sorry I sound negative but it's all true just my experience!

I am also in my 30s too, and introverted. Everything that you’ve mentioned is also something I am worried about with these group tours, the cliques, the drama, the partying/drinking. Personally, the stuff that you’ve experienced would totally ruined the trip for me. Glad I read your comment before signing up with Contiki 😅

Good on you girl! I'm studying pathology collection at tafe - the en course isn't available at tafe where I live and I would have had to travel. It's hard enough, so I imagine the diploma in nursing is going to get more difficult as you advance... or maybe I'm just stupid. Edit: I do enjoy learning the medical terminology. My course is blended, at tafe & online - so I bought my first laptop and a printer (hp all in one) so it's all good - taking notes with pen & paper is the best way to learn.

Helloo~ i dont know if this comment reaches you, i am an international student who recently got full offer for Diploma of Nursing at Tafe Nsw Castle Hill campus which is starting in April. What I am not clear about placements is the actual "place" i will be staying for eg, my campus is in sydney so will they allocate the placements in sydney hospitals only or do we need to travel to other places ? If so, i am worried about the place I will be living after my shift like renting a new room travel expenses leaving the part time jobs etc...or is it just in sydney hopefully? Thank you so much in advance.

Even though I can't supervise EN/RN students as I am an EN, I try to help educate our nursing students if the RNs are busy or I feel like the students aren't learning anything. Let them watch me doing tasks and procedures. Can't supervise them doing tasks but they can stalk me and I can talk them through what I'm doing. Sometimes I'll talk to them about medications and drug interactions or tricks with priming IV lines or how to use equipment. I've had few students watch me do dressings and I talk through why I'm doing what I'm doing and how to document it. I know how it feels to be a student and feel like you're not learning anything. Just know how much we appreciate you guys. Nursing students have been so helpful and kind when we feel like our workload is insane.

I have been an EN for almost 4 years now. I did a pathway that I recommend to people. I did work experience in the hospital. Did a hospital run VET course for my HSC and got a AIN job from doing that. Worked as an AIN while studying my ENs through a ministry of health scholarship (TAFE NSW). That scholarship guaranteed me employment with NSW health for a year. That ended up getting me permanent position and I plan to do my RNs in the near future. Doing the way I did I got to have real work experience in the area I was studying. It was way less scary starting to work with the experience I had under my belt. Best of luck to you with your studies.
