I have no problem people putting my runs on SRC. I stopped using the site years ago. There's no thing as "official" leaderboard imo as it's all community ran.

You don't need an emulator. You have the sav file already so you can use pkhex or mystery gift tool for events and items, etc.

I go for extra hearts just to survive later levels. First attempts I go for 9 pieces, including doing an extra level. If they had boss refights available since launch to practice I probably would have gone for no HP upgrade. This can save a few minutes, the only heart piece that is tedious is the one where I have to get the anime poster and go back to W1, any other on the way I have to do an extra level, or wait until W5 for the 6th one then go back to W4.

If you did not rescue Iris, and collect every one of the password disks including the 8th disk in this fortress, you will be unable to harm the final boss with any weapon.

@@tdraco8829 it happened to me with another method from this channel even but this one in the video worked. Also this only works with the English version. I tried with my Spanish game on crystal and silver and didnt work. Silver English version works fine

To give a bit of a technical context on why this change works, I need to explain a bit on how this code functions. You can roughly split this code up into two parts: - Making party pokémon #1 shiny by setting DVs to 14/10/10/10. This is handled by the first half of the code, up until the Focus Band - Returning safely from the Coin Case's effect, which is handled by the second part of the code, starting from Focus Band's item quantity. --> This is the part where the issue occurs. To return safely from Coin Case ACE, the following needs to be done: - The stack pointer needs to be incremented once so that the game can properly interpret it again. - The ROM bank needs to be reverted back to ROM Bank 03. This ROM bank holds the code relevant for handling item effects, if it's not active we'll likely get a crash. - Text Command mode (which was used to display the amount of coins and started Coin Case ACE) must finish properly. --> This is the part where the issue occurs. When returning from Coin Case ACE, Text Command mode will continue as if nothing happened. We want to finish this as soon as possible. Luckily, we can directly control where Text Command mode will actually read text from. If we point this towards an address that holds value 0x50, this 0x50 will be interpreted as a text terminator and cause the game to immediately and safely exit Text Command mode. This is where the issue occurs. The part responsible for where Text Commands are being read from is X Defend x1, which points to 0x0133 (the first half -01- being the item quantity and the second half -33- being X Defend's text ID). This address holds the value 0x3E, which is an invalid text command with unpredictable effects. The address 0x0134, however, is located just one byte further and does actually hold the 0x50 value we need. And so, by changing the X Defend x1 (points to 0x0133) to X Speed x1 (points to 0x0134), we can ensure that this item code will always exit Coin Case ACE safely. As an additional note, when substituting the Stick for the Blu Apricorn/NevermeltIce, an any x1 stack was removed in the corrected item code compared to the original. This is because this any x1 stack caused a misalignment with the remainder of the code, causing Text Command mode to resume interpreting text commands from 0x339E instead. By removing this any x1 stack, the function of the substituted item code becomes identical to the original item code.

I like to run games not many others ran or at all. It's fun figuring out a route than just following an existing one. Also to bring attention to these games that have been left out. Some games may not be interesting to play casually but the speedrun makes it better.

Sorry for the later response. When using the code with the Stick item, you should use X Speed x1 instead of X Defend x1.
