Thank you for sharing. I must admit that it would have been so much easier to see if you had used a lighter coloured yarn 👍.

Ty so much for this tutorial, Heather! I’ve been looking for a tutorial for a sturdy market bag that doesn’t necessarily call for cotton yarn! I want to use my Super Saver yarn, since I love the many color varieties. Your bag foots the bill, beautiful & strong! 💖💖💖

Great tutorial I was doing ok once I started the textured part but my bag looked distorted I guess it's just me I should have used cotton I used worsted weight 4 acrylic I see that's a no no I pulled all 21 rows apart .

I love this pattern! I just finished row 37 and you mention that the beginning of the round does not start at the fold of the bag, but mine does. 😬 Should I do something different in row 38 so they handles match up?

I have crocheted two of these bags, but at the time I didn’t print out the free pattern and was not able to open my on line pattern. I went ahead and paid the $5.50 for the pattern but it is not the same. And briefly looking at the tutorial it is not the same as my pattern. A single crochet is now a double, a dc is now a sc etc. please explain.
@HeathersCraftCorner Жыл бұрын
The pattern includes both US Terms and UK Terms. The video is done in US Terms. It could be that you're looking at the UK Terms version. I haven't changed the pattern, so that's my best guess!

What's the difference between this bag and the day at the market bag?
@Rock3ttqueen2 жыл бұрын
Hi hi :) I have a question abt the bag.. If you didn't want to have it textured, you just continue to sc untill the handles?
@HeathersCraftCorner2 жыл бұрын
You could do that. If you do sc, you'll have to do about double the amount of rows. I think that would be really cute. The hardest thing will be to make sure your handles are centered. You'll want to lay the bag flat and eyeball that. The counts for rnd 38 won't work if you do sc for the body of the bag, but you could still make it work. I do this in my other market bag video: kzbin.info/www/bejne/r2WlmJeBl7aUhZo

I finished one bag and loved it, but after switching to the smaller hook I found the stitches more difficult to do, they kept slipping off and it was kind of a pain. So I started another bag and figured I would just use the bigger hook for the whole bag. Well, the stitches are much easier and I’m having a lot more fun…but I’m three rows into the textured part and my bag seems to be fanning out a bit…like it’s too big. Do you think it will be okay or should I just frog it back to the hook size stitch and redo it with the smaller hook?
@HeathersCraftCorner2 жыл бұрын
That would depend on what you want in the end. With the bigger hook, it will not have straight sides. It would balloon a bit. If you're ok with that, then keep going. If you want the sides to have a straighter line, then frog it. Sorry my answer is not so black and white. Crochet is an art. Follow your muse! ;)

Thank you for this wonderful tutorial, I appreciate that you've also provided a written pattern. I've been watching many tutorials on market bags and I nmust say that your tutorial is one of the best, it's the clearest and easiest to follow, no distracting loud background music and just pointing. Thank you ,thank you, thank you. I'll be making this market bag for sure! God Bless.

This is a beautiful bag and wonderful pattern. I followed the written pattern but popped over here to the video to make sure I was doing things right. The only thing is I followed the pattern exactly, using a 486 yard weight 4 Red Heart skein, but ran out of yarn several rows short. I didn’t do a gauge, but tension looks the same as yours. I am shocked that there can be that big of a difference in yarn usage!
@HeathersCraftCorner2 жыл бұрын
I feel for you. I even add extra yardage as a buffer on all of my patterns. Even with the gauge only being a little off (like a stitch or two per 4") can make a huge difference in yardage used. Also I've noticed most Red Heart yarn is thicker than the one used which would use more yardage. I hope you can snag another skein and enjoy your bag, though! Happy crocheting!

Isn’t this the same pattern as THE DAY AT THE MARKET bag ?

No. This pattern has a different shape to the bottom and a different stitch pattern for the main body. They do have a similar style, though.

Great bag! I don’t think it matters that you used a dark yarn because your verbal instruction was so precise and easy to follow. You’re a very good teacher! I’m going to get started on this bag right away. Thank you!
@bonniehess8162 жыл бұрын
Just adding my advice. Please lower camera or change the angle. The yarn is dark and it's hard to see where you are making those fpdc in the stitches. It's a beautiful bag, but I think this is going to be hard for moderate beginners.😉

Hi! How could I make the bag about 2 or 3 inches wider?
@traciowens65532 жыл бұрын
Oh man, I am a beginner & having trouble with figuring out where to be put my hook on rows 20-37. It's so hard to tell with the angle in the video. I'm having a hard time understanding where to put my hook for the two skipped stitches & where to put the hook for the new set of stitches each time. Does that make sense? I know it may sound so obvious , but I'm struggling! Any advice??

Lovely tote bag pattern, but I feel challenged by not being able to follow your crocheting due to a dark red color used. It would be easier to see your stitches if a lighter color, such as a medium orange or medium rose color yarn was used. Just hard to see clearly, but I am doing my best.
@HeathersCraftCorner3 жыл бұрын
I understand. I've used a lighter yarn on my newer video (Slightly Twisted Beanie). There is a written pattern available on my website if that will help you follow along: www.heatherscraftcorner.com Happy Crocheting!

Hi, this looks like a lovely pattern. Can Peaches and Cream 100% cotton yarn be used?
@HeathersCraftCorner3 жыл бұрын
Yes, that should be just fine. It's about the same weight as the yarn used in the tutorial. :)
@KiyoNanni3 жыл бұрын
@@HeathersCraftCorner Yes, the cotton yarn would make the tote bag heavier in weight, but last longer, correct?
@KiyoNanni3 жыл бұрын
@@HeathersCraftCorner Could you suggest a cotton/acrylic brand of yarn for me, please, that could be ordered from Amazon.
@HeathersCraftCorner3 жыл бұрын
I was referring to how the gauge would be. I've used both yarns and it would be comparable. I don't think it would necessarily last longer, but it should work just fine.
@HeathersCraftCorner3 жыл бұрын
I'd actually caution against ordering on Amazon for this project as it will usually require more than one skein and you can't get a guaranteed matching dye lot. I've never received matching dye lots when ordering on Amazon. I've always had to either pick them up in store or order directly from the manufacturer's websites. It costs a little more, but you're guaranteed that they'll match.
