It's September of 2024 and this Saturday and Sunday will be the last days of Shell Factory. So sad to see this whole area shut down. The silver round top area was an Army Barrick from WW2. Shell Factory used to be on Old Business 41 in Bonita Springs, FL. The building caught fire - so they moved it to where it is now. I do not know what year the fire was I think 1950's. My mother worked there for a short time in the 1940's when it was in Bonita Springs. She told me how they cleaned the shells and the process of cutting them for shapes and the well know Conch Horn. I have a few pieces of jewelry she learned to make when she worked there. Broaches, necklace's, ear rings. They were made from dried fish scales and small shells. This was always a place to take friends and family who do not live near beaches. So wish it could have survived. Wish they could at least spare the entrance. Maybe someone who reads this can verify dates on when the Factory opened in North Fort Myers. I see the comment of when it opened but I do have pictures of it when it was doing well in the 1940-50 in Bonita Springs. They are black and white and was taken my family members.

Damn life is really different now

So different from now.

When I was a kid, I used to be here every Sunday with my dad. And during summer break, on Wednesday too. So many memories. I got my first guitar here. I got Pokemon yellow for the gameboy, the Japanese version, before it was ever released in the US. My first skateboard. I bought a 32x for the sega genesis here too.

3:24 is not education major. I just got my BS in Kinesiology and most of our classes were in the TA building. 5:23 the education complex is also where Kinesiology research is at so again not education for teachers and what not.

My wife and I were married in June 1976 and went to Florida on our honeymoon. We drove over to Sebring and found the gates wide open and the track totally empty. We said "What the heck!" and drove onto the track and went up and down the pit straight a couple of times in her 1972 Chevy Vega with snow tires on the back. 😂

Brings me back memories 😢 when i went to Florida for the first time in July of 2017.
