There are 5 costume changes and we go from a veil to a full elaborate updo to a disheveled updo. One can understand why this is such a popular kabuki- the choreography to pull off each change requires intricate play with the music and the background workers need to work with the dancer/actor and the music. The clothes need to be thin enough to stack but intricate and vibrant enough to stand on their own. I can’t quite understand all of the movements and the meaning of each song, but even as a foreigner who did dance as a girl, I appreciate and love the intricacy, how the dancer uses the props and those seriously quick changes! I can’t change that fast!
The costumes and dancing are so masterful. The pointed shapes that surround her face articulate a heron perfectly.

I am just a dumb foreigner who love kabuki and thought only Onnagata can play women parts in kabuki, are they letting women in kabuki now? I really like your rendition of The Heron Maiden. The Heron Maiden is one of my favorite kabuki play because of the quick change and you did it beautifully.
