Wow. My first ever Substance Designer project was following along to this. It was really fun and I feel like I learnt a lot. Would appreciate more videos like these. All the nodes aund the reasons why to use these specifically were explained really well, thank you for the tutorial!

Hi there, I was wondering where I can get the multi directional warp node you use now as the link in description is broken and the integrated multi directional warp gives very different results. thanks!
@danieljrgameart
@danieljrgameart 6 ай бұрын
Hey Daniel, you can just use the non uniform directional warp node which is a default node now.

One of the absolute best designer tutorials i've watched, I loved the precision in your guide, rather than having to eyeball the levels nodes when following along on most tutorials you give specifics. amazing work thank you.

very good ! at 4'12 it looks like the body of a jellyfish. I tried to do the same but with piece of glass ejected from the surface. I am lazy to use fracturation in Blender and particles. The new result you made is more realistic. Great tutorial !

Hi Daniel, noob question here. I’ve watched a lot of tutorials of substance designer where hundreds of nodes are used to make shapes that could easily be drawn with the pen tool in the SVG node or in illustrator and could be imported. Is there a practical reason for this?
@danieljrgameart
@danieljrgameart Жыл бұрын
No but with the new spline tools in the latest edition or the system I used in the video you commented on, I don't really see the point of using SVGs either.

Hi, Oh yes, it could be nice to make a video about my experience in the industry. Since then a lot has happened. Basically I got my job with my materials on my portfolio and what I did on my KZbin channel :) I saw a job ad, I applied, I did the art test and that was it. It came after many fails though.

I love how all the steps are very efficient. By using a small number of nodes you manage to build materials where other ortists would need to use twice as many nodes to achieve the same visual result. Thank you for taking the time to make these videos and sharing them with the community.

I think you could do something close with the slopeblur grayscale node. Youy could also try the mosaic node. Nowaydays I tend not to use custom nodes anymore.

For the initial set up he has a blend node connected to a normal and an ambient occlusion node, and he has those nodes plugged into their respective output nodes. Everything is getting channeled through that first blend node

Hey, i tried to redoo your material and i have a question. How do you get at 21:33, the parameters you set to modify snow level, ice color and others ? I only have the render scene when i click on the square "Maximize window". Thanks for your answer

Great tutorial, really shows some interesting stuff. however I had a question regarding the Flood Fill method shown in this video to create a separate gradient within each of the tiles: Is there a way to recreate that sort of separate gradient effect with a material with a number of lines across it spanning the entire length of the map since Flood Fill doesn't work properly with those lines. Because currently i've sort of roughly done it with the help of a bevel node. however this doesnt really allow for much control on where the highest and lowest value of the gradient go within that space between lines, even with something like a transform node to offset the gradient and blend it back its not really giving me something all that nice to work with. Any tips or advice would be appreciated!

Mon sieur, I watched some of your tutorials and found them very helpful for learning SD. Was trying to do some ice related things lately and would like to ask, if you do not mind - would you happen to have any insight, how to achieve something like this: kzbin.info/www/bejne/onbOinmdjK17d68 with ice crystal growth by slider and probably randomizable with seed? If you could make a tutorial or at least offer general direction how to think, would be very grateful.
