Rosalind Elias was a true gift to the rest of us. She was at the Met singing lead roles when my father was a comprimario tenor there in the early 1960s. I saw her in Carmen with Dad in either San Antonio, TX or Dayton, OH in the early 1980s. I was 12 or 13. Rosalind Elias was the most Carmen-like Carmen I have ever seen.
