One of the all time greatest guitarist ever. Insanely gifted. Unique in ever possible way. Stunningly awesome attack and technique. I've played guitar since i was 14. I'm 74 now and have followed every major acoustic guitarist and Don is in the top 5 IMHO; Paco, Hedges, Dawes and Kottke are the other four.

Nich to see u mention Dawes❤ I am only in my 30s and think there always were great acoustic players. John Renbourn , Grossman, all these 70s pickers. Tommy Emmanuel. But modern generation totally put their own stamp. Percussion style, and incredible Rhythm, the use of flageoletts. If u dont know I recommend Thomas Leeb and Jon Gomm. Oh and Antoine Dufour is also in my "modern" top 5 for sure along Dawes, Don, Calum Graham. Fact, Don played with a lot of younger dudes. He was playing with McKee in his beginning, also had supported Jimmy Wahlsteen (who seemed gave up on his solo career) and had a great duo album with Calum Graham. Don did so much for modern acoustic guitar, like rarely anyone else

This man was not Elvis's cousin Gene Smith. He was a journalist employed by the Wall Street Journal, NY Herald Tribune n finally The New York Times for 25 years n then retired to Plum Island with his wife who had a prominent show biz PR firm in NY

Jaw-Dropping. It's gorgeous and shocking at the same time. Mr. Ross has astonishingly polished supernatural skills, on top of an unmatched musical gift. How is it possible that this video has been viewed thousands of times yet received just a handful of comments? How could I take all of this magic in and not express my appreciation for the performance and the channel owner for sharing? Thank you.

0:17 you cannot do that ... I mean, it's absolutely understandable about tuning (I'm a maniac of it) but it tunes on the fly, so you get out of trouble. And you stay much better with the audience than cutting the song. It's strange on you, Don Ross ...

Mr Perfect, spoken... switching between ridiculous tunings like that, and having the audience attention at the same time, while you tuning up is, not as easy as you may think. Many guitarists have trouble to stay in tune, or plays out of tune, and they only plays in standard.... so... 😏
