This song always brings me back to the early 2000s when my friends would vibe out.

She had such a sweet voice even in her older age. Her songs are still listened to today.

that bass is obscenely tight. and the dubby style really really really suits how her gorgeous vocals just float around over it all. drums are also really really well done, they are subtle but the interplay between the drums and bass is epic. really really sick tune

A nice rework, which borrows heavily from this live performance in 1981 - kzbin.info/www/bejne/lZ_bpZuJoLeHbMk, with some of the vocals taken from the original recording. Very good.

Pretty sure any rendition reeks of love, romance, and happiness. That's what the song was written for. But this is by far the best I've ever found--out of a very large assortment of interpretations. And with the verse! I didn't even know this song had one. I also didn't know how easily you can turn this into a song for a woman to sing to a man, even though it was written for a man to sing to a woman (I think very often the lyricists of that era intentionally left room for gender-switches--so popular singers of either sex could make free with their work). I hear a rather plaintive melancholy note underneath the gaiety. She never had this. Except in her music. Very brief unsuccessful marriage, no children. She died in her apartment in Greenwich Village. Maybe it was a condo, but odds are, she passed in a home that was rented. I'm not saying her music didn't make her happy. But her music is all about emotions, just below the surface--she never lets it all hang out--but she lets you know it's there. The undercurrent. Below the ice. It's nice.

What a long and illustrious journey it was from the Ella Fitzgerald of the Chick Webb Orchestra to the Ella Fitzgerald of 1963. Fantastic!

Ella at her pinnacle best. St Louis Blues presented at its definitive best. Ms Fitzgerald was to jazz what Aretha Franklin was to soul.

I love the way she phrases her lyrics and sustains her notes . The vocal nuances she creates haunt the songs she sings with desire and longing.

Searchin the net for my favorite version and this is defintitely one of it... wonder why the likes of Michael Bublé have never covered it with a nice latin flavored arrangement... for me the melody is all about flying and swaying breezing.....

I've got a crush on you, sweetie pie All the day and nighttime hear me sigh I never had the least notion That I could fall with so much emotion Could you coo, could you care For a cunning cottage? We could share The world will pardon my mush 'Cause I've got a crush, my baby, on you Could you kindly coo, could you care For a cunning cottage? We could share The world will pardon our mush 'Cause I've got a crush, my baby, on you
