I use this method on 2 tarps, I stretch them out diagonally on the ridgeline then pull the skins over, 2 on the big tarp, 1 on the small tarp or hammock. Damaged or left over pieces also make great Crab Bait holders when crab trapping! They'll show up on my channel sooner or later, thanks. Mike.

If the main heat loss in a hammock is by convection, and the main benefit of an emergency blanket is to stop convection, why not sleep on an e blanket in a hammock? How well would this even work sub 70 degrees?

The tarp in the DIY snakeskin video is a winter tarp that we made and the pattern is Hexcam. Unfortunately we moved and we are shut down right now until we get a shop up and running again which probably won't be until this fall. If you follow us on any of our social media's or here on KZbin we will be announcing when we will be opening back up. We won't be making hammocks any more but we will be making tarps for hammock camping as well as regular tarp camping and bushcrafting. Another thing you can do is go to our site and sign up for the email list and I will email everyone with the date we will open as soon as I know for sure.

I'm mostly a tent guy. I'll take a hammock ,if it's a very popular area, like Yosemite. I went on a popular backpacking trip a few years ago in Yosemite ( Young lakes) , and when I got to the lakes to set up for the night, it was packed with people. I went to the far side of the lake which had a steep slope to the water ( no flat spots for tents ) and set up my hammock there with a lake view and no one else around !!!

The hang tight shop on Etsy has inexpensive down top/under quilt options that work fantastic. I have used them for years. In the cold I use 2 underquilts that will get me into the teens. One underquilt in the 30’s. Under 100$ plus it is ultralight!

There's also a loop on the other side of the pocket so you can run a strap across the pocket if you wish, also the loops are at the top ,mid, and bottom so you can strap large items to the pack. It's always good to have options ! ✌🏼

I have had the same pack for a few weeks now. Have only dayhiked with it, with probably around 30 pounds. I bought it for similar reasons, wanted the additional volume as I backpack with dogs so I take some of their stuff and wanted a pack with more volume and can carry more weight 40-45 pounds. So far I really like it particularly the suspension, it feels much more comfortable than my 30 year old pack. Really like the hipbelt and did not notice the issue you had with the top strap being loose when you tighten it, but will check it out. Don't really have any big issues with the pack, the biggest is the size of the straps/buckles on the sternum strap and roll top. I also thought the hipbelt buckle was a little small. I agree with you on the ultra fabric, it seems very durable.

Thanks we appreciate it. I'm hoping to have some good meetings with some lawyers to see what , if anything I can do to protect ourselves better and look at different options because I do miss making hammocks and I've been making other gear trying to find ways to make it better so we can stand out from the crowd but that can be tricky because then you often find yourself coming up with solutions for problems that aren't really problems or making things so complicated that they are to time consuming/ costly. Initially I'll be making basic things like bear bags and trail wallets then grow or branch out from there. I do have some ideas for some hammock accessories also

Thanks , you are right I should've packed it 1st. It would've been a better review. After I turned off the camera I realized I probably would've been better off ordering the mesh pocket because it looks like when it rains that water is going to run down into the pocket putting the shock cord on it might limit that. I'll make a quick video with it packed and the shock cord on it this morning before I go to work. I've got the accessories on it now so I'll show them also. I don't think the waist strap will be a big issue but I'm sure it's something I'll notice each trip.

I'm so sorry to hear this! Thank you for making the hammocks that I have now! They will definitely get the use that they are intended for, without the risk that you mentioned in your video! But, people should understand that they take their own lives into their own hands when they make stupid choices like those you discussed. They should never expect Perfection from their gear. They should plan for the failure even though the gear is awesome.

I'm with you. I took all the custom gear off my website due to a cross-country move that has been a lot more trying than we anticipated. While I've been abundantly careful to make everything strong and safe (I have a rigging background) I don't think hammocks will be coming back. Part of my terms and conditions was that I didn't guarantee that any products were suitable for the customers intended purpose. It sounds lame, but it basically says I'm going to sell you a hammock and I don't guarantee it's suitable for that use. Unfortunately that was the best thing I could do as a sole proprietor to protect myself. I don't know that it is enough and while it's a liability thing it felt dishonest somehow. I'm finally getting my shop set back up but I don't think I'll be offering hammocks anymore for a lot of the reasons you've described in this video. Good luck on your move.
