Totally agree! Saw the trailer and thought it would be sort of like a thriller of him blackmailing her and taking over her company after their relationship. The actual movie was a lot less interesting than that… Sam’s acting also felt very strange to me.

The saddest thing about this film is the books really stand out amongst YA in my opinion... so naturally it got a c- grade surface level adaptation. Your point about silly sci-fi names is still valid from the books. However... the books have depth and the silly names kind of help show how shallow the culture Tally is born into is, versus say the culture of The Smoke. I am not sure it can be adapted to screen well. Beauty is not objective and beauty standards go through fads. That is the main theme. So any adaptation would be kind of frozen in time. I would say, if YA books are at all your thing, they are worth a read. Probably future adaptations are not worth your time but you know that. Thanks for watching this and reviewing it!

I thought you were talking about Bottom, when you went on that tangent. I can't speak for Bottoms, but I can't recommend Bottom highly enough. It's a British sit com with Rik Mayall, and Adrian Edmonson about two total losers obsessed with trying to get girls and arguing about it until they beat each other up with various props Right in the Jim Carey/John Cleese wheelhouse. You'll love it.

Ricou Browning was the Gillman underwater. He had alot to do the under-water sequences filming, and became a director specializing in under-water filming. He did all the underwater filming for James Bond's Thunderball , which is all great. The similarities between CftBL and Thunderball underwater scenes are really noticeable if you look.

good video. I would say clean up your surrounding a bit more and maybe change up the fit a bit. A brighter surrounding might also brighten up the movie. Add a bit of Charisma in the opener would be nice to see. Camera position is too low so it looks like you are hunched over which i dont think translates well.

I love hearing about people opinions of this movie when I saw the trailer for the first time it looked like a mess. I really wasn’t interested in the plot either but me and my friend were interested in it I was lucky to have had the interactive imax experience. The only part I did enjoy was the interaction with the AMC employee talking to Adam driver character that part of the movie was somewhat cool to see but also the score was great as well. But unfortunately this whole movie was ugly from its costume designs, goofy dialogue, how each character was talking to finally revealing the city this whole movie felt like a Disney channel movie and for the 150 million budget I don’t know where it went towards to diffidently not the cgi. Most of the movie wasn’t really focused on building the city it was more focused on the political side of it but by the time we see the city it’s the last 10 minutes of the film but I’m glad people see something on this film like you said it’s probably ahead of its time but unfortunately it didn’t really land this is my review on it and I think I gave this movie a 3/10

Well, I think of the movie like a living abstract art work. In a traditional sense it’s a bit of a mess, but all in all it’s an experience that’ll never be replicated in 100,000 years. Glad you liked the interactive bit, wish I coulda seen it!

@@thepatenater no of course art can be in many shapes in forms it’s just this movie wasn’t ready it felt like there was a piece missing I can’t really see what he was trying to say or make but maybe one day someone can recreate it better I know this was paid all by him and hopefully tries again on something much more better in the future

I'd like you to contrast this with The Boy and the Heron which is very much what you describe Megalopolis as: a disjointed masterpiece and passion project of a creator who put everything he had into the medium as their last piece of art that they will ever create.

@@thepatenater Now mind you, I didn't love TBatH, but more extreme expression of art over commercial viability is rare. The film is Miyazaki's most personal expression of his life, his entire body of work, and the legacy he is leaving behind. The man's final statement is that it is better to let his legacy die than to preserve it out of sheer obligation. I don't think I've encountered a more honest and heartbreaking declaration that that.

It was bad. It wasn't even beautiful - it was a visual mess. Halfway through the screening I saw people just started laughing at all the horrendously bad stuff because they didn't know how to react other than let that uncomfortable feeling of WTF out.
@thepatenater
@thepatenater 3 ай бұрын
I think that in itself us one of the great aspects of this film! It’s even more divisive than any other film I know of. I think the beauty comes in the experience, and to focus on the weird aspects of the film feels sorta counterintuitive
@tarwin

@@thepatenater maybe. I feel this film will be taught in film school for many years. But as a tragedy not as an accomplishment. I think it's a great example of why people shouldn't have 100% control over such giant projects. They should have a great team and listen to them. But you're right. It's probably a net positive that this thing exists.
