Thanks for your reply. What's the longest it's taken you to start it in the freezing cold when it hasn't been used for several days? Can you set off straight away once it's fired up?

@robinprice4877 one of my other videos we struggled to start it for about 10 minutes but it also sat for almost the whole winter an we decided to fire it up on a day with sub zero °F wind chill, you usually can't move it till it his 150°F on the temp gage or it'll stall and flood out

Cool truck. I jist gotta 73 k10 long bed runnin drivin for 800. Not as pretty, decent amount of body rust. Putting a 3" exhaust, x pipe, spintec 9000s eciting out the side in front of rear tire (started as a fix a leak, evolved into lets build an exhaust 😂). Engine pisses oil so I'll refresh my dirt track stock car 383 vortec and use that for a while. Came across ur channel looking for others that have a stall converter in a sbc 4wd square body, curious how they react vs advertised rpm with the weight/gear. Used to build converters for off road race applications but that's a totally different thing. Not spending 5.5k on a billet bolt together Coan atm 😅

Don't haave to go to a sniper to make it run. Can probably find a 750 on marletplace etc real cheap, rebuild it, drill the throttle blade bypass holes so it idles without cranking the idle screw and doesn't fall on its face (just keep drilling larger/installing until it idles when warm with the throttle blades closed < 0.040" transfer slot exposure or at most square). A distributor with all the advance in by like 2500 rpm 36 degrees total (piston top, adjustable pointer and verify true tdc). But check basic stuff like fuel filter and put on a K&N. And if you wanna be budget can go to junkyard and pull vortec heads, pin the studs, ls valve springs, felpro seals, lap valaves, shim head gasket (if std deck). Will need to measure for retainer to guide, can be tight on vortec but manageable with + locks and taking material off retainer if need be. The intake will cost more though. Can take it to machine shop and have them drill it for std intake bolt pattern, if so valve job, open pushrod holes, machine for screw in rockers, cut down valve guide boss, clean surface, obviously crack/pressure check 1st... And yeah put a shroud on it.

* Piston stop (to verify true tdc - adjust pointer till reads same clockwise and counterclockwise- same # btdc and atdc from the driver side pointer through center of crank).

Nice square body dude. Beautiful truck. I have an '81 GMC K1500. Cold starts are the same for me too. They love lots of gas when cold. I just pump the crap out of it. I find it starts faster than just one or two pumps here and there of the pedal. I subscribed. Hope to see more cold starts coming this winter.

@@TheBrady101010 Oh yeah, mine sits for a week and she's a real bitch to get going. Would you be able to do a video showing more of the person who is starting the truck? Simply standing outside the driver's side door while its open just so we can see it all from that angle would be super cool, if you could. Looking forward to more vids.
