People have different ideas of morality,so which one is the correct one?You can make it easy by saying your religion knows best but there are so many religions that it’s impossible to know for sure that we picked the right one. God is used to give the position authority but what if it’s wrong? Then teh wrong position will be protected by gods and extremely hard to question. We don’t what that! If we each speak from our humble human perspective we won’t have the authority or protection of god and will be actually able to discuss what’s best based on our worldview.

Well, Paul Tobin gives a quite comprehensive and specific definition of the term "Humanism", here. Unfortunately, this is exactly what makes his definition wrong: He just gives us a definition of his very personal branch of humanism, trying to kidnapp the term. Here comes the correct definition for all those having been confused by him: "Humanism is the sum of all worldviews/philosophical branches, that have the human in focus". It is actually that easy! And there is quite a lot subsets of humanism out there: Marxism, Socialism e.g. to name just the most prominent. Btw, when the word "humane" is used as somethig of virtue or higher value without even given the slightest clue why that would be, then it is just so: There isnt any explanation for this! That is the achilles heel of all forms of Humanism: Its like a religion, just having the god subtracted from the equation, but the equation still doesnt add up. One still is forced to believe in a groundless premise, only that this time around the premise is not: "Because of god ... you have to obey our rules", it is: "Because of beeing a human ... you have to obey our rules".

@@THRASHMETALFUNRIFFS I'll answer my question instead, and then raise a new one; Humanists stand for the building of a more humane, just, compassionate, and democratic society using a pragmatic ethics based on human reason, experience, and reliable knowledge-an ethics that judges the consequences of human actions by the well-being of all life on Earth. - Steven Schafersman So according to Mr. Schafersman, current president of Texas Citizens for Science, good is determined by action that improves the well-being of all life on earth. How do you know what will improve the well-being of all life in a consistent, clear, manner that we can keep each other accountable to? These three things are hallmarks of any defensible ethical perspective that I don't see discussed in humanism. Without them the probability of successful implementation and action on a large scale seems low.

Sounds like Eve in the garden of Eden. She strived to be like God and catapulted all of humanity into sin. Until the human race searches for answers from Almighty God, we will continue to face divine judgment from Almighty God. We didn't create ourselves. Until we ask God to grant us divine wisdom, knowledge, and understanding, the answers mankind seeks will never come to fruition. Just so you know., If that's the case Jesus invented "humanism". The roman empire murdered people for sport. This is because up until this point the idea that humans were just meat sacks was the dominating people. The idea that humans had value came from the idea that humans are created in the image of God giving us rightful born value. Jesus and that ideology is contributed often to the sole reason the roman empire collapsed.

Question for the community, when the word "human values" is said, whose values are humanist's speaking of? Mother Teresa or Hitler's values? I seek to understand since "human values" are all subjective to the person; Wouldn't an objective Source external from the human be necessary for objective truth to exist?

It doesn't matter... that's the beauty. We can't control others actions, only our reaction. A Man isn't what what he feels, thinks or believes but what he does. Do you think that someone made your house, even though you have never seen them? The house is the evidence of the builder. Same with this universe. It had a beginning, therefore it had to have a cause. And that cause, is God. This universe could not have created itself. So do you think God cares about how we live? If He has given us morality so that we have set up a system of law with courts and judges, how much more would the supreme ruler of the universe demand justice? Have you ever lied, stolen the smallest thing or thought a rude thought? If these were the things God would judge us by, would He find us innocent or guilty? The answer? Guilty. Sinning against an infinite authority figure brings infinite punishment. Hell. So how can we stop going to hell? Does doing good deeds take away our sins? If I get a speeding ticket in the morning, then do 5 good things, should the judge let me go free? No, the fine has to be paid. What about asking for forgiveness? If a criminal stands before a judge and says, I'm really sorry... Should the judge let him go free? No, because that would be a bad judge. If he forgave every criminal because he loved them, that would not be doing justice. Justice has to be paid. God is merciful, but not so at the expense of justice. The only way we can go to heaven is if someone pays our hell punishment for us. Jesus lived a perfect sinless life and then took all of God's wrath for our sins upon Himself on the cross. Since Jesus paid 100% of our sins, there is none left for us to pay. Our punishment has been paid and we get off free. Justice has been paid and Gods mercy has been upheld. Our good deeds don't save us. Nor do they contribute anything to our salvation. Jesus paid it all. Just acknowledge your sins, and accept this gift of Jesus Christ to go to heaven. To learn more about God. Read the Bible. It's available free online. Read the gospel of John first.

humanism is a sham, and i say that because, humanists claim that humans can do good by themselves without "divine intervention", but as we have seen throughout history, conflicts that have nothing to do with religion, have been just as bad as conflicts that are related to religion, if not, worse. Achieving peace and happiness through humanism is damn near impossible, because with out god things like liberalism, atheism and secularism will grow, because of ignorance, which will inevitably lead to the collapse of civillization. You can see this with the holy roman empire, the greek empire, carthaginian empire and many more. Search "37 indications of a civillization heading for a fall," there are many more articles about this, but they are decreasing due to big-tech censorship. I recommend you start of with the one I listed.
