Celebrating the life of a wonderful man, Dr. Fendt Shearer, and mourning his passing with you. There are no words for the great legacy he has left behind. His shining personality will live on in our hearts. He has made a difference in so many lives. I pray for comfort and strength for the entire family during your bereavement.

Even Martin Luther saw the inescapable principle of fragmentation and disunity that lies at the heart of sola scriptura. In a letter to Urlich Zwingli, he complained bitterly about the doctrinal anarchy that was even then rampant among Protestants: "If the world lasts, it will be necessary, on account of the differing interpretations of Scripture which now exist, that to preserve the unity of faith, we should receive the [Catholic] councils and decrees and fly to them for refuge." Jehovah's witness are the children par excellence of sola scriptura. Like you, they believe that the Bible speaks for itself & that THEY have the correct interpretation. And just look at it: Jesus = St Michael! How on earth can you think that Jesus would have come to establish a book which anyone can interpret any way they want, which any fool can interpret any way he wants & then mislead other fools with him? Jesus built His Church as a "pillar and bulwark" against such licence. Where does it say in the Bible "a man is justified by faith alone & not by works"? Yet you will hear this frequently on the lips of Protestants, proof that they hold beliefs which are not only man-made traditions not found in the Bible but are actually maintained alongside the Bible with equal authority! In fact, James 2:24 says the opposite: "a man is justified by works & not by faith alone" (and this is the only time the phrase "faith alone" is ever used in the Bible). Sola fide? Solo somnio! Sola scriptura is the door to attempt to make oneself judge and God outside the Church and so to form a church of one's own. Such a church never truly follows sola scriptura, of course, because such a Church will inevitably produce its own set of beliefs or revelations which will exist as statements beside Scripture and justify themselves as being inevitably derived from or in harmony with scripture (eg, once saved, always saved) while being in truth a product of the individual Protestant mind. Your sola scriptura belief is a licence for any so-called Christian to view your allegedly "self-interpreting" (guffaw) scripture under any interpretation HE THINKS FIT for His purposes, which are suit-yourself, I-have-my-own-religion, if-I-think-this-today-I-can-change-it-tomorrow practices. A true seeker of the kingdom of God looks for the Church which holds one true teaching and shows the signs of the Spirit, ie, existing unbroken since the time of Christ. St John was one of the Twelve and his gospel says "θεὸς ἦν ὁ λόγος" (either "the Word was a god" or "the Word was God"). How could a Jew believe the Word was a separate God? The Church carried on the true Trinitarian interpretation. Then Luther's sola scriptura appeared and (product of revivalism) Joseph Smith Jr followed after waving the flag of sola scriptura and the right of the individual to make up his own personal codswallop and to indulge in "plural marriage The revengeful spirit of Calvin took possession of the Puritans, and caused them to redden the soil of the New World with the brave blood of honest men. Clinging to the five points of Calvin, they too established governments in accordance with the teachings of the Old Testament. They too attached the penalty of death to the expression of honest thought. They too believed their church supreme, and exerted all their power to curse this continent with a spiritual despotism as infamous as it was absurd. They believed with Luther that universal toleration is universal error, and universal error is universal hell. Toleration was denounced as a crime.🤢
