Don’t use pre heat on your Combi Boiler for domestic hot water. It’s a waste of gas and is a major problem building regs should ban pre heat option on Boilers if we are saving the planet.

Surely you can just remove the red circlip and remove the pipe from the old filter instead of cutting it when replacing

hi do you have an injector tee fitted?, are you heating a cylinder?, can you do an overnight burn or feel any warmth in the morning?
@PlumberOntheJob25 күн бұрын
No, we have a Combi boiler fixed on the system simply put on the wood burner and the pump and it works without the gas boiler being on then run the tap at the same time. Get instantaneous, hot water Genius at the same time Don’t complicate things with tees keep it simple also works on gravity Yeah let it burn out at 9 o’clock otherwise it’s too hot at 11:30 at night and you can’t sleep

You should check your insurance. I checked mine (Admiral) and it covers damage from hail to the solar panels if they are a permanent retro install on the main insured building. If I were to put them on an outbuilding or freestanding structure in the grounds they would not be covered. With the increased intensity of thunderstorms it our changing climate, you may need to be ready with a cover for those panels in the event of a violent storm.

I'm looking at doing something similar, however we've just renovated and had plumbing done for unvented cylinder. However, I will rip it all up and do it again for a system like this. Can you let me know how it's all piped up as there's not much info on these available Thanks!

Breakers fuses & connectors £150 new 405W solar panels £100 each (depending on how many you need )solar charge controller £50-£300 depending on SCC , x4 deep cycle battery's for 48V SCC system £90 each x2 15 evacuated tube collectors £250 (used) off ebay these provide the heat for the pool even on overcast days but not as hot as in full sun, tank for the evacuated tube system £50 used on ebay, heat exchanger ( i use a old boiler heat exchanger i already had and this goes in my tank ) this runs my pump & sand filter and my x2 circulation pumps 1 to and from the tank and one for the evacuated tube and heat exchanger, this filters & heats my 20 foot pool all for free, took alot of trial & error & adding items to it over a 2 years but it works Oh and a pure sinewave inverter to run the 240V pool pump £50 looking out for a used solar pool pump but hard to come by as there £300-£400 new but having one of these will run directly off the solar panels then use 1 separate solar panel/SCC to run the x2 pumps for the heater ,this system starts at daybreak and goes off at dusk.I wish someone pointed this pump out to me when I started spending as its a far easier option and cheaper

Hi, did you screw down into the rubber roof to hold the panels down? It looks like you have from the vid. I have a rubber roof on my garage and I want to do the same thing but worried about water getting in. Also is there an air gap under the panels at all? Cheers :)

Interesting. Did you consider putting the panels on more of an incline?
@oinked4 ай бұрын
I think part of the reason to install at an angle is to reduce the need to clean them. You'll probably find you'll need to clean those ones several times a year to keep the power generation up.

I have asked octopus to fit the whole lot and they stated it is impossible to fit an EPS/UPS to the system (‘your doomsday box) they are not the only ones as another supplier stated they cannot do it either. Givenergy said it can be done for a blackout and are coming back to me to tell me how. It might need to be an add on after Octopus have done their thing on fitting it. Maybe.

😂😂😂 Fancy £1K crimper & expensive fittings. All the gear & no idea!!! I started my Apprenticeship in 74 & we’d install Microbore back then. Also two pipe small bore was the norm. The old boys we worked with told us they’d moved onto two pipe in the late 60’s. There’s still lots of Commercial systems on one pipe systems, Schools, Hospitals etc. But even new Commercial systems were done in two pipe in the 70’s. Now the only Microbore in 10mm drops are in New Builds. Thanks for sharing mate, very interesting👍👍👍

Good video here. I found an annoying leak where pressure kept dropping by 0.2 bar every 2 weeks using a liquid pressure testing device. I isolated the boiler and put 6 bar into the system. Sure enough in about 5 minutes i heard a drip in the kitchen and the top part behind the radiator had a pinhole caused by corrosion. Replaced the radiator and no problem after that. Totally recommend a hydrostatic pressure test especially for annoying slow leaks which you cant find. Another trick is to use UV dye and then use a UV LED torch to spot any luminous deposits on joins or pipes.

Had exactly the same and yes a reset brings it back to life but after a week or two it will happen again. My guess is you are running firmware above D0.910-A0.910 if so you need to contact support and ask them to disable 0 second UPS this will stop this happening.

It’s probably gone flat and needs re-pressurising. Isolate the cold mains and open a tap then get a bike pump on the nozzle. Pump it to what it says on the vessel

I believe you should’ve soldered here , because push-fits tend to fail on the long run.
@stuartday18762 ай бұрын
You can't solder when the stop tap is passing. As a bare minimum he had to use the plastic tee. Could've soldered the rest, but the cost of the 2 plastics fittings is not really significant. Really needs a check valve though.

I would love to know what is inside the burner tube where the gas and air mix ... is it hollow and empty, or, are there 'guides' to direct the yet unlit gas to below each of the radiants? The 3 radiants on our Gasmiser light seperately...midddle one first followed by the 2 outer ones... it's a puzzle??
