SPWR stopped being ‘good customer service’ years ago. And rush to meet CA NEM 3.0 driven demand led to lots of ‘shortcuts’ that have created a fair amount of remediation liability. And Maxeon in equally bad position so panel warranty unlikely… looking forward to (hoping for) enPhase offering alternative to PVS6 to take over firmware maintenance and panel monitoring

You missed their acquisition of SolarBridge and the associated class action lawsuit, the fact their early modules were positively grounded and required special inverters, and their crappy rollout of Equinox and Helix "systems". Oh also their terrible PVS5 monitoring systems. IMO, if they stuck with making modules, they'd be better off.

I agree … should have made modules as their difference … good point on solar bridge etc … having a proprietary system with no real benifits increased the costs .. vs using say enphase micros …. Thanks for watching

I have a company wanting to use micro inverters from Enphase but Tesla 3 batteries for there capacity. Would you recommend this? Would it be just a waste of cost paying for micros since the batteries has this function. I don't get some shade where they will be placed but not allot.
@solarbygreengreg
@solarbygreengreg 2 күн бұрын
Good Question....I have seen this Enphase/Tesla PW combo before... Enphase micros ... besides optimizing for shade .. you get redundency.. if a micro goes out ..rest of solar panels keep working.. , homeowner can verify all solar panels working w/individual panel monitoring and 25 yrs warranty ... I haven't seen your roof so don't know how much shade is issue If a little shade only winter months and only certain times of day--really early morning / really late afternoon .. probably can just use a PW3 .. PW3 has several inputs so if one roof or string has more sun vs another it can optimize ....but if PW3 fails you have no solar and no battery... I'm wondering why not spend a little more and get a Full Enphase IQ8 and Enphase 5P batteries? By having all Enphase everything in 1 app and the have a great whole home energy management system ... Also Enphase 5p 15 yrs warranty vs Tesla 10 yrs ... However .. Enphase will cost more and take up more wall space (or you can get a pedestal) There could be other factors that I don't know about .... just my thoughts ... everything has pro and cons depending on the home and customer...

Sounds really good, but where are the rebates? Anyone can get the tax credits, but the whold thing about rebates is a complete failure and only gives homeowners false hope. Have we gotten any closer to getting rebates? NO. In fact it gets more difficult. Only contrators can apply for it, its not retroactive, your home will need to be tested, only applies to top of the line heat pumps, and more and more red tape. Dont even get your hopes up. Rebates will not come easy, they're already so far out of reach

When did this video .. we thought that rebates would be available in about 6 months ... sadly there is only 2 states that has implemented the rebates so far...more states coming Perhaps there were reasons to give money to states but in hind sight. the whole thing should have been federal ... apparently states work slower than the Federal gov't. The Fed even gave money to states to administer these rebates... here is link to check your state. www.energy.gov/save/rebates

I highly suggest to have the solar edge app and tesla app (if you have tesla powerwall) so you can monitor your system daily. This has happened to ours about 8 times in 3 years. Had to have a new inverter installed less than 1 year. Personally I'm not very happy with the inverter. Sucks when it doesn't work and then you have to do this over and over. Customer service in Hawaii is virtually nothing after you buy the system.

Hi Greg I am purchasing a house and the roof is nearing the 60yr expected life (no issues yet). I want solar panels asap to bring down energy costs and in the future I plan to replace the gas heating system with an electrical system (my preference at the moment is infrared panels). Would it be more cost effective to put the panels on when the roof inevitably needs replacing or are they easy/cheap enough to remove and reinstall?

Hi Greg, we installed a 13kw solar system for a 2 person household. We are still receiving between $100-200/month electric bill in Maryland. Is this normal, and will installing a battery bring my electric bills down?
@solarbygreengreg
@solarbygreengreg 26 күн бұрын
It depends why are you still getting billed this amount? I'm not familar woith MD utilities.. Someone will need to look at your utility bills .. But a couple possibilities 1) If you are using more electric than you are producing then you may need more watts of solar panels ... of course also make sure solar panels are not shaded-which reduces electric production. 2) If you are producing 100% of kWH used but still getting a bill .. you maybe getting credit for kwh sent back at wholesale rate but when take power from grid get charged retail.. or have time of use rates --times of night /mday/morning where electric rates higher -- this is when a battery can save money and lower your bill .

@solarbygreengreg
@solarbygreengreg Ай бұрын
The speeds vary. Depending on pool. and what your running … the idea for variable speed is you run just speed you need example speed 1 8 am filtering slow speed depending on your pool 1750-2250 2 hrs , speed 2 solar 6 hours 2400-2700 speed 3 cleaner 2 hours 2299-2700 Cleaner you need higher speed Solar higher than just filtering -don’t want too high because pressure bad for solar panels You just have to look at pool and see what’s a good flow make sure enough water movement … how many hours to run pool heater depends on how dirty the pool gets - ie open pool vs screened pool and gallons … if pool dirty you need more hrs or faster speeds ..

We had a 12.5 kWh PV system installed last fall using Enphase IQ8A M-Inverters feeding a 4C Combiner box (Celluar and Wi-Fi Envoy). Our system was scaled to cover 125% of our average annual usage - the maximum our utility would allow. We now want to add ESS, I like the scalability of the 5P. We have a newer high efficient 1700 sq ft villa (built in 2019 with a 3-ton Lennox AC). Will 3 5P's provide "whole house" backup? Would a "soft-start" device improve things? And I love the app.
@solarbygreengreg
@solarbygreengreg Ай бұрын
I agree enphase has really upped their game …. I’m inclined to think 3 of 5 p should start that ac unit … yes a soft start will help in most cases … but I suggest having a local solar contractor look at AC specs. And think about how long you want to run the ac in case of a power outage …. And of course what other things you want to run
