You can put on a lot of weight if you rely too much on smoothies. I mix a spoonful of flax or chia seeds in with my mustard.

How wonderful! Medical science gives us one more thing to scare us out of our wits. Personally, I sleep mostly on my back, with an occasional flip to either side. Never on my stomach. My chiropractor recommends back -- and I guarantee you that I trust him a lot more than this scare video.

I never knew anybody who had dementia when I was a kid in the 1960s. No relatives or neighbors ever had it. Dementia seems to have popped up with the low cholesterol diet that was pushed on people towards the 1990s.

Oh for goodness' sake! 'They' keep telling us this or that sleeping position makes this or that difference to your health. I say (polite version) "rubbish!!!!". I don't have a 'single' sleeping position: sometimes I lie on my right side, other times I lie on my left side, my back, my tummy....I've never quite managed to sleep standing on my head....! So where does that get me? It may explain how I've reached 73 years of age without any life-threatening health problems, or, more likely, it has nothing at all to do with it!

No one will ever likely know if I come down with dementia or Alzheimer’s or any of this other stuff. Fortunately, I’m very self-aware and I watch for changes in my mental acuity.

I also have a condition known as Charcot-Marie-Tooth Syndrome which affects peripheral motor nerves and can progress upwards and inward as you get older. Falling has been a constant in my life. I had it for 25 years before it was diagnosed and I finally got braces for my legs. It also causes the hunched posture and anyone look at me would think I have dementia because it is now affected my facial muscles and I can’t talk for more than five or 10 minutes without completely wearing out my jaw muscles -very frustrating.

My wife always said that I was the world’s largest suppository of useless information, little facts that just stick in my brain forever. Trivia. I would’ve been great on Jeopardy, but for my entire life introduce me to a person in five minutes later I have to ask him what their name is again rinse and repeat. I could never master names. Some I could because I could use some sort of a nemonic device because their name sounded like some little fact that I retained, but that was rare. It’s a remain constant my entire life.

Wait, so dementia means you forget what is going on now? Dumbold Chump is going to be "president" again. Dementia, where is thy sting? Load me up Bubba. I don't want to see this coming shit storm. I've been increasingly apathetic for years. Not much sense in worrying about what you can't change. Great. For the last few years I've had increasing difficulty balancing on one foot as I put a shoe on the other. I am screwed. Fuck. I've had insomnia since I was four. Last night I took a prescription sleeping pill before bed. Three hours later I was wide awake. Took another pill. An hour later I took a third. An hour later, still wide awake, I took two shots of whiskey and finally slept for another 90 minutes. Wide awake before dawn. And I'm retired, no compelling reason to get up before noon any day of the week. Can't remember the last time I slept past 9 am. I lost interest in social conversations with most people about 20 years ago. Don't see the point. Depth perception? I've had problems with that for over 40 years. How fucked am I now?

I wonder if picking up early signs of dementia actually enables effective intervention and a higher quality of life. Have my doubts but perhaps I've forgotten the marvellous treatments available for those with dementia. Maybe I have dementia and am living proof of the positive affects of early treatment intervention. If so I've forgotten all about them.
