I absolutely love your video! Where did you get the tin pot and how much do you usually sell something like this for?

Collins college students, I am humbled by your enthusiasm to strive for excellence. What I am about to tell you is not to discourage you from entering the hospitality industry. I see it as my duty to give you an honest opinion about what I have experienced in this people’s business. The compensation you receive for all the hard work you put in is totally flawed within the hotel operation segment. As a manager you will make less than a line staff you manage. People might tell you that you are giving up a little bit to make greater steps forward. The truth is less money won’t pay your bills for the meantime. I know that people tell you if you are in this field of work just for the money then you need to go find something else. That’s not right, every individual needs to be compensated correctly especially after they have completed a four year degree from a prestigious hospitality program. As an operations manager you will make about 50k at the Ritz-Carlton and Four Seasons. These two are the hotels you probably aim to work for. The reality is that a restaurant and banquets waiter will make double your annual income due to tips. They will also work less than you will. Each day you will work for at least 10 - 12 hours, overtime that you are not compensated for. I highly recommend you to work in the non operational side of hotel operations such as Sales, Catering and HR. But if really like operations work for In ‘N’ Out where managers make about 100k. You and your parents have invested a lot of time and money for which you should be compensated correctly. People working in the hospitality industry seem to always suffer first when there is a economic recession. Again, I am not here to discourage anyone but you should be very strategic in what path you want to choose.

The Collins College partnered to host hundreds of high school students for Experience Hospitality Orange County in the spring. It was the first leadership summit of its kind in Orange County bringing together aspiring young students, the hospitality industry and partners in higher education.

I am curious why the Dean word his leaving by saying that it had been a difficult decision though he went to San Jose himself to announce his candidacy. All I want to say is that the students and faculty will miss him a lot. He is such a great man. He really took the Collins College to the next level.

San Jose has a highly-regarded Hospitality, Recreation & Tourism Management Department. Dean Feinstein will be the deputy provost at San Jose State University starting in mid-July. His role will be to provide leadership across all academic disciplines, including, but not limited to hospitality.
