I would also suggest if you want to forge more stuff go to a junk yard and look for an ASO (anvil shaped object), it will make that easier.

That pipe is galvanized, word of warning when heated it gives off a toxic gas until the galvanization if burned off. I would suggest working in black pipe next time.

What I do is I take a old broken broom and I flaten one edeg then open that edge so its a realy gaged edge,an its probaly illegal to make there cheap exsposabel and if one brakes i hav 5 more ready to go

also also dont forget, you need to forge weld, forge welding requires a lot of heat, luckily i think that pipe is aluminium, so it probably melted down, but heres what to do with a metal pipe, get an hair dryer, a lot of coal, and a gas pipe, then use the hairdryer to wind the flame, and then insert your pipe inside, when its completely yellow, but not sprakling, get it out and beat it with a hammer, the pipe will forge weld. it will make the sword less bendy. then you can use cold forging to make a pretty solid sword.

use a gas pipe next, also, a katana isnt the best choice for modern metals here, when you fold steel it loses carbon, and it becomes softer, so i suggest you do a longsword, and heres a video from lindybeige to explain that: kzbin.info/www/bejne/gYrclYmQh8efbK8

I made the sword from the movie Blade - Wesley Snipes. Straight double edged sword from a thick metal pipe. I was 10 years old at the time. It turned out a hell of a lot better than this. No offence.

Metal looks weak, especially if you can flatten with regular hammer while unheated.
