Cockiness backed up is OK. Lose 1500m. OK. Not good but I'll win gold in 5000m. Has there ever been a middle distance runner who has been capable of that ? Next ? How about 5000m/10000 m double ? That's been done - which suggests it is physically more doable. 1500m is too short. No body can do both. I like him because he is approachable and honest. Terrific athlete. Like a good fighter.

They did beat him in the recent Olympic 1500m, but the interview at 5:51 is old. It was from last year's Prefontaine Classic (September 2023). In that race Jakob backed up the talk pretty well (3:43 mile, 3rd fastest race all time). Yared hung on to him pretty much all the way, lost by .24.

My money is on Jakob everyday of the week. The H2H record between the two is a dominant 8-1 in favour of the Norwegian. Kerr is basking in his 1 victory and elated when others beat Jakob. It just goes to show who the superior athlete and person is. Kerr is like a white male version of Sha'carri Richardson. Was stoked for Alfred making history for her nation and as true champions do, Jakob will prevail with aplomb
