totally normal to alert tower about a TCAS RA, and i can't imagine an operator that wouldn't have explicit orders to follow an RA or act on it according to pilots discretion, regardless of what a controller says is "okay" and not to worry about. pilot acted much more nonchalant about this than he had every right to, even knowing this is VATSIM. we use these tools to practice for real life. honestly wish that the controller had to play this in every job interview for a controller position to show that he doesn't know how to handle frustration or traffic spacing. TCAS can be fallible, but certainly not ignorable. and under no circumstances should a controller ever give up on their traffic. some people are online for practice, not for fun.

Because it’s from Vatsim... Not from real life. Vatsim is a simulated communication platform so that flight simulator pilots/ATC controllers can simulate “real life” flying without actually flying! It’s pretty cool

Not true. Guys is a sound controller. Maybe there were lots of idiots on frequency not listening. Shame there's no exam to be a pilot on VATSIM.

guy is a "sound controller" but causes RAs and can't handle the slightest frustration? he wasn't even being criticized or abused, just meeting the consequences of his inaction was enough to send him over an edge. terrible behavior for a controller, should have to play this audio in interviews tbh

The instruments are vital to flying, they show airspeed and altitude and it wouldve been really hard to fly the plane not knowing your airspeed

Hmm. I've never heard a FL used to describe an altitude less than FL55. Usually, when your as low as 3500', it's terrain clearance on the area or TMA QNH that's needed, therefore flight-levels are not used. On the approach itself, you're on QFE, because that gives you height above the landing threshold.
