I just started watching rick and morty and I loved this episode it made me think how hot a hive mind is. Like they are all one person but they are all baddies and all the sex pleasures one person.

You know when Rick C137 beat Rick Prime, we didn't actually see Rick Prime die. I think, Rick Prime was the one who left that room. I think Rick C137 was left in the chair (mind swap maybe). Everything that happened after that was Rick Prime and not Rick C137. To be clear though, I think Rick Prime left Rick C137 alive and laughed at him before leaving.

i like the show for many aspects, like comedy, plot, and characters. but what i don't really like is how "being smart" is interpreted in the show. in Rick & Morty, and many other shows, the "smart" characters will often not be understood, overcomplicate things, and will need to do certain things because only they can. while in real life to be smart is to understand something and be able to explain it. the only inventions Rick do that work and make him look smart are done off camera, the things that he does on camera are overcomplivated and should not work. example: plickle Rick attached rat limbs, a pickle does not have any way to transmit electric signals for the mucles to move, and the muscles will die out very fast since they don't have blood flow to sustain them. another exaple is between Rick and evil Morty, when they are trapped, they use the formula from prime Rick, evil Morty and our Rick to make the gun work again, Rick does some calculations on the ground that do nothing, because they just stick the guns to one another and shoot it, no rewireing, no recoding, nothing, just tape them together and the gun worked even if the calculations were done or not. a smart character should make something complex look simple giving you a way to understand it. in case of Rick and Morty i don't blame the writters too much since they have to writte about concepts that may or may not exist, but it still is kind of dumb.

I disagree with this entirely, and think C137 is undoubtably the smartest. Intelligence in this context shouldn't be defined as "Who is the strongest" or "who can be more strategic in battle" because this is fundamentally not what intellect is, smarter characters can loose to dumber characters, and we shouldn't push the agenda that it is different in the Rick and Morty universe. First of all, with Rick vs Evil Morty, it should be noted that Morty's are by definition; Not as smart as ricks, as established in late season one they have brainwaves directly opposite to ricks, cancelling out and concealing 137 from other ricks. Also, evil Morty IS able to take down the Central finite curve; But only after Rick 137 abandoned it. If Rick was still overseeing the Citadel at the time Evil Morty became the President of the Citadel, I guarantee you he wouldn't've been able to escape the CFC so easily. Also, Evil Morty didn't "Destroy" the CFC, he personally escaped it for himself, nothing about the CFC was unharmed when he left, other than the rift in space resulting from it. Also, the only time Evil Morty manages to outsmart Rick is where Rick is too emotional to think straight, or too focused to see the bigger picture. This is especially apparent with the Rick Prime Kill, Rick is much more powerful than Evil Morty, the only reason Evil Morty ends up dealing the final blow to Rick Prime is because Rick was too filled with rage to actually use major technology in the battle, trying to stick as close to hand to hand combat as possible without dying. This is probably because he wanted it to feel like his own kill, rather than his own technology, but if he wanted to, Rick probably could have killed Prime easily before Evil Morty if he used his full arsenal. It's also definitely the case that Evil Morty was only able to get the power he got from the existence of Ricks, as he would have NO idea how to even BEGIN with anything close to rick-level without some help from a Rick. Also, yes being able to think out a large scale plan may be an argument for why Evil Morty is smarter, but really; Rick is still able to come up with intricate incredible plans on the go. Take the destruction of the Citadel in season 2 for example; Rick managed to move bodies like thrice, destroy a federation prison and the citadel in one, and still not harm anybody important to him or take any major losses in like 5 minutes. The only reason Rick 137 is even compared to Evil Morty, is because Rick literally just isn't bothered to kill Evil Morty or go after him. Next, Rick Prime. There could be an argument in which Prime is smarter, but I genuinely do not believe this to be the case. Yes, he is "Proactive" in how he shapes the universe, but this isn't because Rick couldn't do the things Prime does, it's because 137's personality is incompatible with the type of thing Prime gets up to. Given enough time, I guarantee Rick could have developed the Omega device too, its just that he never thought of it. Just because Prime has more influence over the multiverse than Rick does, has nothing to do with his intelligence. "He is more ambitious and thus is smarter" is no valid argument. Not only that, but changes to the CFC aren't "Permanent", the CFC acts as a hard wall between Rick based universes, and the rest of the Multiverse, that's why Evil Morty escaping wasn't that big of a deal, he didn't shatter the entire wall, just personally passed through it. Rick Prime is altering the multiverse yeah, but even if he killed all ricks other than himself, its not like he would now be the god of all everything, there are still plenty of beings outside of the CFC we can assume are just as smart, if not smarter than anybody brought up in this video. Claiming Rick Prime is smarter than Physics or the multiverse is just not true, because first of all, he would have to act in accordance to physics to design stuff, he also doesn't have absolute influence over the multiverse either. Rick prime WAS undetectable in the CFC for decades, but guess who found him, Rick. Speaking of comparing Rick directly to Rick prime; It turns out the only two beings in the entire CFC to have ever invented interdimensional travel are Rick and Prime. Rick refused the portal from Prime, and in revenge made it himself. Sure, prime was the first rick to invent portal travel, but speed isn't everything, even Prime says it himself in his own death scene: "I just walked into your garage before you walked into mine", this totally implies that Prime is absolutely open to the idea that Rick 137 could have gotten there faster than him, and that it might have just been luck.

I think it's something between Rick Prime and Rick C-137. If Rick Prime is really dead, I'd say it could easily be Rick C-137, but if Rick Prime comes back and isn't actually dead, I definitely say Rick Prime is the smartest Rick and character in the entire series.

None of this video really explains a higher measure of intelligence. Honestly at best they all tie for being the smartest since they all unanimously achieve their goal. Rick C-137 wants a similar thing as Evil Morty but they go about it in different ways. Rick C-137 wants to have the ability to make his own choices devoid of competition which then gives him maximum agency in a reality where he has the most control. We know this because of all of his actions. After Rick rejected the control of portal travel offered by Rick prime, he surrendered himself to the limitations of his connection to other people he cared about. (A huge part of relationships is about surrendering control over them by letting them make their own decisions) Rick lost these people and therefore reverted to seizing power and control with portal travel. Ultimately Rick proceeds to make a reality more and more constrained to the concept that he has control as the smartest Rick not held back or bound by anything. This of course is a delusion since we see that Rick is gradually embracing people in his life again and therefore even in the meaninglessness of absolute control he would rather be connected and bound by his loved ones. Evil Morty ultimately proved he is tied for the smartest because he achieved his goal despite not being the chosen being of realities within which he is confined and rose up to be as intelligent as any Rick if not more intelligent that almost all of them. (Honestly a lot of the other Ricks make some dumb mistakes all the time). Evil Morty wants to be left alone and seeks a reality that he can bend to his own will and agency to the measure he sees fit. He succeeds at this and that is also a proactive goal. Rick prime is proactive but he also is dumb enough to make enemies with people he never wanted to be involved with in the first place. Sure he made a weapon that can erase people from the universe but we also know him to be so full of himself that he had to wank himself by challenging other versions of himself. In other words he sought meaning in the competition with the only adversary he saw fit to fight him… other versions of himself. Not only did he ultimately lose but he lost because he rejected the one advantage that Rick C-137 embraced from the beginning. He had family that loved and supported him and even though Evil Morty was ultimately the one to defeat Rick Prime it stands to reason that Evil Morty only remained involved because he saw the difference between Rick C137 and all other Rick’s that being that he isn’t a complete narcissist despite trying to be that. Every character in this list is the smartest of you are measuring their intelligence by how successful they are at meeting their goals. At the end of the day this video just shows that being the smartest is both a relative thing at a certain point and that the only difference in the end is your motive. Prime is certainly not the smartest but his goals define him as a being that will start shit rather than settling for happiness at some level. Really all of these characters are trapped currently because they can’t really progress any further without looking outside of themselves and at this point not a single one has managed that.

i accept your belief, however evil morty said he could be able to upgrade the omega device from only looking at it for a couple seconds, then he was able to trick rick prime into thinking he is the regular morty, then he was able to basically kill him (he revived rick to let him get his revenge), but i feel like evil morty has shown higher levels of inteligence than rick prime, especially considering that he was able to locate him when rick and all the other ricks couldn't, and he could quickly see how to upgrade his greatest achievement (the omega device)
