@@samiseifcomposer It was a small crowd, (we're still not back to normal since the pandemic) but the friend I was with also was deeply impressed, and a few days later I ran into another friend who was there - same thing. We gushed on and on. Your work was deeply appreciated and I hope that you bring us more in the future.

I cannot for the life of me understand avant garde
@samiseifcomposer Жыл бұрын
Dear Jeiel, thank you for your comment. I appreciate you listening and sharing your thoughts. I wanted to add that the avant-garde movement is dead because it is basically impossible to shock people nowadays-or at least, not to the extent that it was possible after WW2 in Europe, where the avant-garde movement as we commonly refer to it was formed. The social, political, and artistic context in which the avant-garde came to be have changed so much, that I don't believe there can be an avant-garde in contemporary classical music anymore.

great energy in this piece, and the non-imitative polyphony built up with a lot of control, even with the boxed-notation vibe of the piece; the entrance of the piano at the end was perfect! If you had another 48 hours to write I could see another 3-4 minutes with a lot of that piano material being used :P -- so cool to hear you write something in such a short amount of time!
