Please drive with caution. If more care had been taken, the life of brown bear Grizzly 399 could have been saved. Avoid causing harm to animals or people accidentally.

We arrived in Jackson the night she was killed, (for our semi-annual vacation to see 399). Went to the approximate scene, (they only said "about the 126 mile marker") which is in Lincoln County. The location of the carcass was in Teton County. Now they say it occurred at the 126.9 mile marker, still in Lincoln County. We checked from the 125 to the 127 mile marker and no sign of blood, pre or post crash skids, car parts, nothing to indicate the area of the crash. The blood and drag marks were still on the road 12 miles north though, in Teton County, where the elk carcass was hit. Interesting don't you think? (I'm a retired Crash Investigator so I had to see for myself). They cleaned up the site of 399's death but not where the elk carcass was located (I have video of the blood stained road where the elk carcass was). I was checking the scene as we just couldn't believe she was in the road. it seemed more likely the driver may have been crossing onto the shoulder some and that's how 399 was killed. We may never know how it really happened.

continued....We walked the roadway at the publicized location, (126.9 mile marker), and yes, the roadway and the shoulder were cleaned up VERY well. There were no pre-impact skids, blood marks, scuffs, hair, or drag marks, and no post-impact skids or blood stains. I went out to the scene the next morning, Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday looking for anything to suggest a crash had occurred - NOTHING. I get it, the Lincoln County Sheriff is trying to keep everyone calm, I guess. But the interview they gave said the Deputies determined, by the damage to the vehicle and size of the bear, the driver was doing the speed limit of 55 MPH. I guess this is new "magic" they have now in determining minimum speeds in crashes. Also, remember, this crash was investigated by the Sheriff's Office, NOT the Highway Patrol, as their Trooper was busy on a rollover DUI crash. I wish they were a little more transparent with their (lack of) investigation. I don't believe 399 would have been in the road or jumped out in front of the vehicle. This is also not a blind spot on the road. We'll never know I guess.

The terrible thing is that her son Spirit could have been murdered too, because he wouldn't have left his Mama. Murder is defined as "an intentional killing of one human by another". Animals cannot be murdered, but interesting your narrative and negative attack on him without regard to the actual facts which were he was driving the speed limit, was not driving reckless, distracted, nor speeding. I get you have a narrative, and are emotional, but in what world would someone intentionally damage severely, or like here total their vehicle by hitting a 400lb animal?

Devastating news for sure. This may shed a little light on what may have happened: “According to a representative with Wyoming Highway Patrol, the agency received reports of two grizzly bears wandering into the road on US89 around 11 p.m. Responding officers theorized that the bears were trapped in the road area between the river drop-off and the steep canyon walls. The bears appeared unable to climb up into the mountains and kept returning to the roadway.”

I think the very selfish part of most people who are anti-abortion are also the same people who refuse to properly fund public help programs for the child, essentially once the baby is born they're now considered a drain on society if they get put into foster care. The same people who fight to stop abortions are the first to call homeless people leeches, drug addicts, and bums. You don't get to hand wave some moral right about abortions while also not giving a single damn about the child once it's born. Giving a mangled mess of cells that has no ability to even experience a sense let alone reason, a voice is insanity. When an abortion happens the vast majority of cases nobody would be able to tell the difference between it and just some other bodily liquid. It guilt trips women who want to get an abortion into believing they're murderers. No woman should have to give birth to a rapists baby, a child they wont be able to afford or take proper care of, or sacrifice their life because they got pregnant when a man can just walk away without even thinking twice and making some piss all monetary contribution. Videos like this are dangerous. Regardless of how beautiful you think the story is I hope you can realize at least this POV.
@SpokenReality25
@SpokenReality25 Ай бұрын
Thanks for your opinion. I do understand where you're coming from, but it's important to engage in this conversations about these issues respectfully, even if we don't agree. There’s a lot of complexity surrounding the abortion debate, especially when it comes to the inconsistency of advocating for the unborn while failing to support the child and family post-birth. The criticism of people who don’t advocate for comprehensive social programs, foster care reform, or better support for struggling families is valid. If society wants to reduce abortions, it also has to be willing to provide real resources and support for parents and children after birth, ensuring they don’t fall through the cracks. On guilt and emotional strain, I recognize that there are many difficult situations women face, including financial hardship, trauma, or even life-threatening medical conditions. This is why it’s important for discussions about abortion to focus on empathy, resources, and support rather than demonization. Each case is unique, and decisions around pregnancy can be deeply personal and complicated. also the developmental stage of a fetus, opinions differ on when life begins and when that life has moral significance. Some people believe that life, and thus rights, begin at conception, while others see it differently. These beliefs are deeply tied to personal values, religious perspectives, and ethics, which is why the issue often becomes divisive. It's important to note that many people who oppose abortion also advocate for adoption or foster care reform, or they provide direct support through charities and organizations. That said, there is certainly room for improvement in ensuring that all children, regardless of their circumstances, are given the resources they need to thrive. This includes access to healthcare, education, and a stable home environment, which requires systemic change and support from society as a whole. Videos like this are not inherently dangerous because they represent a viewpoint in a broader conversation about a deeply personal and controversial issue. They may offer a different perspective that some people resonate with, particularly those who view the moral or ethical considerations of life beginning at conception. It’s important to allow space for all perspectives in a society that values free speech and open dialogue. Such videos can also be a way for individuals to reflect on their own values and decisions, even if they don't agree. In fact, exposure to different viewpoints can foster more informed discussions and a better understanding of the nuances in complex issues like abortion. When these conversations are approached with empathy and an open mind, they provide an opportunity for both sides to consider the underlying concerns, such as the importance of supporting women, children, and families after birth, as well as respecting personal autonomy and moral beliefs. While some may disagree with the message, the exchange of ideas, especially in matters that impact many lives, helps create more well-rounded and compassionate approaches to addressing the needs of society as a whole.
