This review was very helpful. It also doesn’t seem worth the price for me with the problems you mentioned. I know those would drive me absolutely nuts 😅

Crazy that there aren’t any comments here 🤦🏻♂️ well anyway….i am beginning to think we are all becoming paid beta testers. That’s a really dirty cash grab in most cases. It’s always “mostly positive” reviews but any review that’s usually bad is incredibly in depth and just really makes me question the authenticity of all those thousands of “good” reviews. This is why I like KZbin reviews, and in this case i appreciated your honesty. Unfortunately honesty doesn’t get as much attention as it should 🤦🏻♂️

Played over 5k hours in Stardew during the pandemic. Loved it. Played vanilla and modded. Got perfection over a dozen of times. Let it rest and now enjoying FoM. I bought it on sale last week and now it’s my new addiction. There’s several differences but each have its own unique charm to it.

Agreed! I love the new features FoM gave us to make it stand out from Stardew Valley. I'd love to hear more about what you think after you put some hours into FoM, especially since you played a ton of Stardew Valley!

Some of the quests in stardew valley are insanely difficult. I had one for 10 lincod fish which I had never caught and one for 80 hardwood. However, I can't just give them the hardwood in my chest I had been saving. I had to figure out how to find 80 more hardwood in the game. So off to wiki and such and immersion is lost and saving up things is pointless.

@VinnyRN078 ай бұрын
I do love the art style of this game - it’s something that really draws me into a game initially. A journal would really help the game, and it’s always good to have an ultimate goal - but this is such a great start for it and it has huge potential. And 2-3 hours is the length of the current Call of Duty campaign so it’s already doing better than that 😂 great review Ari!

Two hours is weird for a game like this. Don't get me wrong I love the challenge, I might be the weird minority but I think my character lives too long XD I didn't want to do the rapid option but as an elderly in year 2 i feel like...I'm pretty set and the challenge is gone. I loved the first year and how brutal it is. Once it got easy i feel like cycle is dreadfully boring, boring to water, limited crops, paper thin events. And I get it the npcs had to be like that cuz they die too. I just don't know, I easily went through year 1 on all default and i am bored now that the risk is gone. I think better festivals, an extra thing to collect/work on. More family building as far as child stat raising could be great. I love the hardcore appeal the game had, but once that was gone it feels hard to do the loop. If I do go back to the game I'll def change aging to rapid. I really do like the options though, I'm a player that doesn't like that every farming game is cozy, I want something to smack me/challenge me lol.
@arithymia8 ай бұрын
I think two hours isn't enough time to really see everything this game has. I think it's definitely worth playing past the 2 hour mark and getting to experience the player aging. Did you find the generational gameplay less fun as time went on?
@cloudy4lockharty8 ай бұрын
@@arithymia yeah I was fully bought into the whole, my kids pick up my slack, but my person did well on her own by the time I became old. I wish there was some stat building in that area. Maybe a store front or a real difference in certain skill stats? Having a farmer kid compared to a blacksmith kid. For games like SoS a wonderful life it took a bit for me to get bored. I really think to balance the family dynamic they needed to have a hunger system as well or something. They become very OP in mechanics by being sprinklers. Game had a sweet spot in the first 2 months of the game.
@Dunkelwald_8 ай бұрын
You make it sound like 2 hours are not enough to dedice if you like a game or not. I also rather prefer game demos but 2 hours are a good time to get the hang of a game I think. Nintendo would never refund you anything :')
@arithymia8 ай бұрын
I think for some games it’s definitely more than enough time! But others it feels like you really don’t get to know a game until much later and you’ve “unlocked” more of the game. Also so true, Nintendo would never 🤣
@VinnyRN078 ай бұрын
I really love this new format! I'd definitely like to see more of these. This definitely feels like a game I would love to play and usually my problem is having to experience this 2 hours myself, or decide to even purchase it myself amongst the sea of Steam games I already have (thanks Humble Bundle!), but this really helps me decide! Thank you for posting this, and I would love to see more like it!
