Oh, Mammy's Little Baby loves shortnin' bread. Saw this movie when it came out, I was 17, and laughed all the way through. But my best memory was when it ended. Instead of bringing the lights up slowly during final credits they turned them on full. The audience was made of almost all little old ladies and men come to see an R or X rated movie and got caught before they could exit. This clip is marvelous. Brought back a lot of fun memories. Many thanks.

I remember this episode at the time. Never realized that the ‘jerk’ was later THE David Letterman. There was about five years between that episode to when the David Letterman Show was starting to catch on.

Letterman and Williams together are comedy gold. The network really missed a chance here. They should have trusted Williams opinion of Letterman more and given him more appearances.

wild how these self help gurus were such a big deal in the 1970s with group sessions, etc. Dave was the right choice to play one of these snarky characters.

I would watch this movie EVERY time it came on as a kid. It was around the time of the Tofutti and Fruzen Gladje trend. Years later I worked as crew on a film with the actor who played the older brother. I brought up this film because I couldn't resist. Its the only time I've ever fanboyed while working with talent. He was polite, but seemed surprised I remembered it. I think he was a Tiger Beat cover boy too

I remember watching this show. It only had one episode. I went to school and told the guys about it and there was never a second episode. I felt like my friends thought I was lying about it. Until Pulp Fiction brought it up. It wasn’t a movie.

0:49 I just realized my dad frequently did that same weird awkward wave. He was enough of a TV nerd that it could very well have been a reference to this obscure sitcom that no one but him understood. He’s dead now so I can’t ask him. 😩
