Time for a new video on this problem. There a hundreds of houses in my area that have this built in problem. The flat area from the cricket to the edge of the chimney box is about 9 inches. It collected tons of debris from the oak trees and the squirrels think it's a nice place to feed. The last roofers did not address the problem or speak English as promised.

Greetings, sorry for the delayed reply. Unfortunately, an apartment is not a straight forward clear answer. 1) The owner of the apartment building has to give permission. 2) all levels below the top floor are unable to get natural light through a solatube, unless there are changes to the building to accommodate the tubes. I understand your situation, I have lived in one of those kinds of apartments with a room in the back/center that has no windows, usually against a hallway or concrete side of building. One way to help with the enclosed feeling is to put, WHITE light bulbs in to brighten it up without the dingy yellow glow.

Even plywood will not easily catch fire if it were subjected to this same test. House fires start from beneath roofs so a real test to see a roof shingle's fire resistance would be to place the shingles on top of the burning wood.

Also, bugs and dust got in between the layers of the disks as I was cleaning. Difficult to get them out. Had to slip a paper towel between the layers to remove the bugs/dust because they showed on the outside. Would be better if the layers were not separate for bugs/dirt to get in.
@lisaoldendorp1556 Жыл бұрын
There is another lens at the base of the Solatube after you get the decorative lens off. Both of mine have bugs/debris in them. How do you get that off to clean it as well? I've had mine 4 years now.

This is a great idea because direct solar light is so much more efficient than electric lighting or solar>electric>light conversion which is only in the single digit percentage for efficiency. Theres about 1000 watts of solar light per square meter, which is nearly 10000 watts of electric incandescent lighting. BUT the real gamechangers and selling points would be automatic dimming using lcd polarizers to a maximum light or at least a manual iris, and a fiberoptic redirection to multiple lights. The technology for this existed decades ago and should have been subsidized by government programs and open source R&D. Relying on entrepreneurs only at the last minute because energy costs are soaring has been a huge waste. Materials cost are very low; it shouldn't be this bare bones at this point; and it should uber cheap.

You will one day stand before God and answer for everything you have done. How will you do on that day? Here's a quick test: How many lies have you told in your life? Have you ever stolen anything? Have you used God's name in vain? Have you ever looked at someone with lust? Have you had sex outside of marriage? Have you ever had, or been involved in, an abortion? Will you be guilty on Judgment Day? If you have done these things, God sees you as a lying, thieving, fornicating, blasphemer, adulterer at heart, and murderer, and the Bible warns that God will punish you in a terrible place called the lake of fire: Revelation 21:8: "But the fearful, and unbelieving, and the abominable, and murderers, and whoremongers, and sorcerers, and idolaters, and all liars, shall have their part in the lake which burneth with fire and brimstone: which is the second death." Yet God, who is "...rich in mercy,..." sent His Son the Lord Jesus Christ to suffer and die on the cross for all guilty sinners. We broke God's law and the Lord Jesus Christ paid our fine. That means God can legally dismiss our case and He can commute our death sentence. John 3:16: "For God so loved the world that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish but have everlasting life." Then the Lord Jesus Christ rose from the dead and defeated death. Please, repent of your sins and trust in the Lord Jesus Christ as Savior, and God will give you eternal life as a free gift: Ephesians 2:8-9: "For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast." John 14:6: "Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me."

Found a "fresh supply" fan installed in my attic recently, didn't even know it came with the house. I've been at my wit's end trying to figure out why it is randomly extremely humid in the house on days where the delta between indoor and outdoor temp wasn't enough to kick on the A/C to remove the humidity. The culprit - something similar to one of these (pushed air into the house, not pull from it like this one) was just steadily pushing in humid, uncomfortable air all day long at 20 minute intervals. Found the mysterious little box in the attic blowing air into the handler intake duct and promptly uninstalled it. This looks like a way better design.

Diogenes Ferreira I had no problem finding the products and pricing. Look on the top left side of the website for what looks like a square shape of multiple horizontal lines. It looks like a small box of lines. The link will drop a menu down and you can go to whatever product your interested in. We happened to be at Habitat and saw a Solatube 290ISn it was an opened box but it said New on it. My husband and I sat down and went through the box piece by piece and checked off all the pieces. The instructions and everything was there so we got it for $115.00 it sells for over $500.00 we can’t wait to install it and bring some much needed light to our living room.

I’m wondering if they make a cover for this. Like if I use us in the bedroom and I don’t want bright sunlight on me first thing in the morning is there a way to cover the the tube? I have a house that has the first floor room that I get no sunlight in so it’s always dark in here. Probably would need to do like 30 feet of tubing running it through a closet in the room above this one. That would be interesting if you could do like a T on this and run it into two rooms off the same tube.
@ByersLeafguard4 жыл бұрын
Long runs can be done from 2nd floor to 1st floor exactly as you stated through a closet. As far as darkening up the light coming through solatube offers a dimmer that is operated with a switch. Check out this link for the dimmer instructions. static-assets-solatube.s3.amazonaws.com/s3fs-public/field/files/tech_resources/instructions-brighten-up-daylight-dimmer.pdf

I am having a problem with the gutters running over, making holes in the mulch below, and on the other side of the building, the gutters are running over or somehow hitting the cement and making a mess of the entrance door.I have to put a piece of plywood to divert the water. Leafguard tried to fix it once, but it still is doing it.We called L/G and now they want $300.00 to come out and fix the problem, or (try) to. I am 86 yrs old and cannot climb up a ladder to fix it myself. I thought they said Lifetime???? Well I guess not. so beware
