The king has what looks like an axe in one hand, and a whip in the other (toward the end). Anybody know what the special symbolism is there?

I used to watch the original version of this tale, though I didn't know an english version was around until a few years ago. Thus, I humbly thank you for putting this old tale up for all to see.

+Meggie Smith : Well, in Hungarian it usually says 'And they happily lived until they died';. :) In this tale it's something like this: 'And they lived free from care, eating cottage cheese pies and greasy scones, until they died.'

I grew up watching this. I thought it was lost forever when the switch between VHS and DVD occurred and I lost the tape. Oh, joy.
