I am at the point with my engine of putting the head back on. In your video my gasket does the same as yours, in that the hole is small on the nearest rod and floats above the collar. Did you just tighten down over that or did you have to shave some off the gasket? You see the collar at about 4:13

@MrSwatchway2 жыл бұрын
Glad you liked the video. Taken from the manual: The injection timing is 14.71 deg. BTDC. The arc from TDC mesured on the fly wheel is 50 +or- 1mm . Shims available for adjustment are 0.1 - 0.15 - 0.2 mm . This link is for a free copy from BUKH of their Workshop Manual . bukh.dk/upload_dir/docs/FAQ/Bukh%20ME%20-%20Data/Bukh%20ME%20-%2010-20%20ME/Bukh%2020%20ME%20-%20Manuals/Works%20shop%20manual/Work%20Shop%20Manual%20-%20BUKH%20DV%2020%20ME.pdf Hope this helps.

I happened to break one of the studs going through the rocker arm stanchion and had nightmares about replacing it. Thanks to your demonstration I see I can lift the entire rocker-arm without having to dismantle all the parts on it. I have a good feeling about the operation now. :-) Thanks a lot

I'm trying to find information on the correct re-install of the camshaft after a complete engine overhaul. Are there markings on the camshaft wheel that match up with other markings, or is it installed in relation to the position of the cylinders? The shop manual is not much help. Any help you might be able to give me is greatly appreciated.

I've not worked on on the bottom half of this engine but reading the manual it seems there should alignment marks on the crankshaft and camshaft gears. Hope this may help.
@Explore-Gobal8 жыл бұрын
Well, that's part of the problem, there are alignment marks on the crank gears, and they are fine, but nothing on the cam gear that I can see. I've searched for quite a while and can't seem to find anything about that. Thank you for getting back to me.

I found these articles online. mgaguru.com/mgtech/engine/cm105a.htm and www.smokstak.com/forum/showthread.php?t=61121 These should hold good for positioning the lobes of the cam on the DV 20. Then it would be wise to check the timing against the data in section M5 of the manual. I also read that someone had the same problem and were given good advice from Bukh uk at Poole.

Nicely done, restoring a marcon tomohawk 25 at the moment but it wasn't as bad as that was. Learning though that everything takes 3 times as long and twice as much money as you think it will though lol.

The head gasket, UK prices was about £100 + £65 for the machining (by a relation of mine) . All the other gaskets were reused with the silicone/copper gasket cement. The engine has done about 15 hours now and the head bolts have been re-torqued and is running fine. Starting is much easier now. Bukh prices not cheap but then thats boating. The packing rings/grooves were not re-cut and does not seem to be a problem as yet,time will tell.

Lynn Cotgrave Hi .Yes I did have water in the oil which had emulsified. I found the engine would not turn over because of the water in the cylinder which had caused a hydraulic lock. So being water in the cylinder I removed the head to find the cause. Other causes can be:- Water pump leaking into the crankcase via the shaft. Cylinder liner seals. Cracked cylinder head. So your problem may be resolved with the repair of the water pump. Hope this helps
