and when the Vago turtles and the centerboard fully goes back into the trunk?

There should be a shot cord retainer to stop that happening. Personally I have a cleat on the thwart to hold mine back but that can lead to more problems if I run aground and cant release it in time :)

@@edlights instead use a shockcord/elastic

well done.. i went out today too.. really good sailing down here in falmouth.. great steady force 3-4.. and flat water for a change.. moved my mast rake forward another notch and it made a huge difference to the handling of the boat. keep it up... it gets a lot easier.

Sailed it today I'm completely knackered I have completed 3 races came last in all of them. 3rd was the best last not to much wind and had a bit of a dice with an Opi on the 1st race but only capsized a few times mainly because I kept on getting cramp :o)
@dmcmakerofthings12 жыл бұрын
well good luck with it.. perseverance pays off.. managing to sail mine for hrs at a time now without capsizing and am completely in love. but still have so much to learn. am finding that when the boat falls towards me a quick pump on the mainsheet can save me from a windward swim.. if you ever make it down cornwall way would be good to meet up.. also, i may be coming up to cambridge september time so could possibly bring my boat.. cheers. d.

Only sailed it a few times since these I have been sailing my Laser Vago at some opens but hope to get ack with it this weekend. I broke a batten at a CVDRA event in a bit of a blow also, the tramps catch a lot of wind when you don't want them to :o)

Thank you I did find I didn't have enough rig tension on this time. the second time was much more and I was more seccessful. the kicker is still to be yet to be used propperly :o)
@JamiePearson23312 жыл бұрын
the way I got told to set up my lowrider was to get as much rig tension on as possible, then pull on a bit of kicker, when you go upwind, kicker = height but watch for the diagonal wrinkles they aren't good. Hope this helps :)

do you have a t foil? that would make a big difference with the pitching.. also when you tack, take her through the tack , sheet hard, and heel her towards you.. you may nd up in the water but it tends to make mine bear away instead of heading back into the wind.. if you have a t foil you don't need to worry so much about the bow going under, as it tends to pop back out on its own.. it seems that it is only downwind or reaching in force 4 plus that mine wants to pitchpole.. enjoy. d

I do try to get forward but when a gust hits it really drops the bow, I do need to move quicker I am still fingers and thumbs at the moment:o) but I am really enjoying having a go :o)

I try to sail mine fairly bow down most of the time to stop the transom dragging, though yours seems to carry weight better than mine,.
@dmcmakerofthings12 жыл бұрын
you may find that more wind helps.. and if you are still stuggling to bear away a little less mast rake..

Do you mean put more on? There was hardly any on I did put some on later on but I kept on going into irons even more. thinking about it when I started I was further aft and it did bare away easier and when I was having the problems I was going forward so I will give that a go. I didn't have much forestay tention I will put much more on next time. what would you recommend?
@bradleyianfield12 жыл бұрын
Too much kicker and sit further aft

It was the back end of Hurricane Katerina + 25 knot wind and quite a bit of swell it was good fun sailing with my Brother :)

Yes I wouldn't like to do that again and if I had known it would have been that eventful I would have saved some of the footage. it has made it look much flatter I was looking up at a lot more wave tops than this shows
