I first arrived in Japan in late 1978. I was immediately taken by songs by Judy Ongg, Kobayashi Sacheko, Nakamori Akina and others, not to mention Japanese jazz by artists such as Watanabe Sadao. I went to bars to sing Japanese enka and pop songs to learn Japanese more quickly. The late 70s and early 80s were a wonderful time for Japanese music in a variety of genres.

I'm Japanese who live in the Tohoku region, and a Japanese person living in Kobe, whom I follow on X, told me that they had an unpleasant experience with rude staff at a restaurant in Kyoto. This made me certain that it was the right decision for my high school, which is known for its major school trips, to avoid Kyoto and choose Tokyo instead. In any case, Kyoto has many advantages in terms of increasing income, not just for tourism. Therefore, the governor, mayor, and politicians in Kyoto should be desperate to come up with solutions.

I think it's mainly to do with the fact that many of these kids didn't grow up listening to funk, r&b and disco songs in the '70s-'80s and just listened to anime and video games music. I cringe whenever I see comments of people saying this music is "superior" to western music, I'm like no baby they're imitating what western artist; particularly Black ones; were doing at the time. The world would be nothing without contributions from Black people.

I think the market is likely at its best now, but I still believe having a financial advisor is crucial to navigate the market and moderate your risk. Their expertise can really help you make informed decisions.

I agree. Based on my personal experience working with an investment advisor, I currently have $385k in a well-diversified portfolio that has seen exponential growth. It's not just about having money to invest in stocks; you also need to be knowledgeable, persistent, and have the strength to hold on during market fluctuations

City Pop is coming back for the same reason 80s and 90s culture came back in the US: it harkens to a time considered "better" by the newer generation. Japan and the US were arguably at their peaks in the 80s, and so GenZ and late Millenials feel nostalgic not for the music itself, but for a time they wish they could have been a part of.

Pop and dance music have been obsessed with rhythm for the past 30 years, while ignoring harmony for the most part. City pop has very strong harmonic hooks, which now feel fresh and novel again.

I'm a member of Gen Z, and got into City Pop through a compilation of 80s City Pop songs I stumbled across while looking for background music. I love 80s New Wave and Synth Pop. City Pop combined that with elements of jazz, funk and lots of disco elements which I really found pleasant to listen too. I don't speak Japanese either, so I found listening to music in Japanese was more relaxing as I wasn't constantly analysing lyrics as I do with songs in English.

Amazing video, A friend of mine referred me to a financial adviser sometime ago and we got talking about investment and money. I started investing with $120k and in the first 2 months , my portfolio was reading $274,800. Crazy right!, I decided to reinvest my profit and gets more interesting. For over a year we have been working together making consistent profit just bought my second home 2 weeks ago and care for my family.

I’ve been forced to find additional sources of income as I got retrenched. I barely have time to continue trading and watch my investments since I had my second daughter. Do you think I should take a break for a while from the market and focus on other things or return whenever I have free time or is it a continuous process? Thanks.

The reason Japanese companies get away with poor treatment of employees, is because the system does not allow quitting and joining a different firm. So people are pretty much captive where they first get hired.

Great advice here. Keep it simple, buy things you understand, take some risk but don't try to shoot the lights out. I’m invested in ETFs, equity index funds, and individual stocks and use a CFA. On average, she takes 10% of earnings, but using *Lina Dineikiene's* system makes it fairly simple. I conservatively follow her recommendations and market entry and exit points, and tbh this saves me countless hours analysing companies... I am convinced it's not just hard work but smart work :-)
