Please add comments, You Tube is NOT picking up my videos and opening them up to others. I would like to keep producing content however it is becoming increasingly impossible to do so.

I use my thumb on the six string and my index finger on the b and e strings the third finger third fret d g and b strings to play every day people by sly and the family stone

I'd like to hear that, I love that song.

Your alt G sounds better than the reg G and it feels easier to play too! Win -win!
@spaceagejim84822 ай бұрын
I must agree with you. I found that missing the 5th string is way faster and it's really hard to not buzz that 5th string as well when playing standard G.

I like the 4 finger G chord for the exact reason you described -- the easy transition between G and Cadd9. Another thing I figured out is to switch up the fingering depending on what chord you're changing to. For example, I use my 2nd, 3rd and 4th fingers to go from G to C, but I'll use my 1st, 2nd and 3rd fingers when I'm going from G to Em. For me that feels more natural. Just something I thought I'd throw out there.
@spaceagejim84822 ай бұрын
Awesome, I like going from the Triple G to the alternate G between verses to keep things interesting. Chet Atkins -my Guitar Idol- said 'never play the same verse the same way twice.'
@charliedillon14002 ай бұрын
I first learned the standard 6 string G, but when I learned the Triple G it was a game changer because it's so easy to keep the ring finger pinned and use it to pivot right in and out of D Major. Also, just drop your first two fingers down one string, as you showed, to get a C chord! Any beginner can have a three chord progression easily!
@spaceagejim84822 ай бұрын
Exactly, also you can leave fingers 3 and 4 down and play an awesome Dsus, try it its aaawesome.

Why didn't I think of the 'Alternate Method'

The alternate is easy and sounds full without all of that bass overload.

Good idea. You can slide it down 2 frets and you have an F Chord as well. Up 2 and it's magically an A.

I hope those that do not know the great talent of Chet Atkins will discover him like I did many years ago. I guarantee if you learn to play every song on his 'Almost Alone' Album you will be a much better guitarist because of it. Disclaimer - I never learned 'Bigfoot' that is just too much work.

The phrasing is tricky, some phrases begin before the measure, or like a 'pick up note' or anacrusis. I did not copy it exactly, just lookin to fit the mood of it. I may do a teaching video on it if I get some requests.
