I remember those tabs at the edges of the clothing to “hold them on to the dolls”. Betsy McCall was a favorite of mine. My mother loved paper dolls when she was a child, too. Oh, yes please!! I love paper dolls and remember playing with them as a young girl! My favorites were Betsy McCall who was in McCall’s Magazine, that my grandmother received in the mail. I was always so excited when they came! The dolls you have made are gorgeous, and I would love to learn how to make them!

I too love your ideas! I am definitely interested in learning more about the paper dolls . I remember receiving a Jackie and Caroline Kennedy paper doll kit for Christmas one year. It was one of those special gifts I’ve never forgotten. (Chatty Cathy was another great gift).

I remember that as children my sister and I would play with paper dolls that came in magazines that our mom got. Maybe it was Women's Day Magazine? I would love to see how you made the paper dolls that you showed as part of your flosstube videos. Thanks for sharing!

I grew up playing with paper dolls made by my aunt. She was an amazing artist, drawing inspiration from fashion magazines to create all kinds of dresses and different looks for the dolls. Your video brought back so many memories! I loved it and can’t wait to see more!

I love your idea of a Sesquicentennial quilt! I was born on the 4th of July and really do have an uncle named Sam. Since my 10th birthday was on the Bicentennial, I have always said I want to live to be 110 to celebrate the Tricentennial. I realize that might be a lofty dream, but hope springs eternal. In the meantime, I do look forward to turning 60 on the Sesquicentennial. All of that said, as I have begun quilting over the past year, I think I should plan my own Sesquicentennial commemorative quilt. Thank you for your inspiration!

So lovely to catch up with all you have planned for 2025 Susan. ❤ I sat down to watch you this morning with my fruit tree and two animals Scarlet Letter piece - it was almost like we were stitching together 💞 I haven’t worked on this since we got back from the UK as I was tied up with all things Christmas and family too. It’s lovely to finally get some stitches in again- the colours always make this piece feel so special. Susan...have you seen/heard of the book Eagle Motifs in America...Decade art quilt series- 1770 to the present? It's by Susan E. Wildemuth. Published by Schiffer in 2013. I have it in my home library...it's fantastic for images and history of eagles! Can't wait to take this eagle journey with you! Great video today!

That quilt! I agree with you about the feeling at the Symposium, warm, loving, exciting. You yourself was all those things and I loved meeting you. What a gift from Karen and Brendon, so, so kind of them. It was overwhelming in some ways, now I have to go back and do some research as I just couldn’t take it all in. I had paper dolls as a child but nothing like yours. So good. Thank you for what you do.

I love the paper dolls! I remember changing their clothes when I was little (folding tabs over their shoulders). lol. Of course, they were not as beautiful as the ones you are showing. I think they used to sell them in books. They were perforated and you had to be oh, so, careful when punching them out! :) ❤❤❤

I absolutely love the book by Annette Gero. I ordered it from Australia back around 2010 after discovering Australian quilts and quilt designers and it changed my quilting life. There is something about the Australian quilting and stitching aesthetic, both past and present that really speaks to me and for me the book is a real treasure!
