wouldnt a cold and fouled bore shoot the same as a fouled warm bore? iv yet to notice a cold bore difference, only a clean bore difference. just from my experience.

I know where this is ,,,, and they paid for this…wow so this place is not the best area in that area give you a hint it’s 30 something…actually the better place is east of where they are in public land … a rancher named Larry Wooten ,,I think that’s how you spell it but he showed me this place,,,, and that thing of compared Wyoming bucks ,,,, believe me we got bucks just as big… so for big bucks in this area ,,, the old mossy horned bucks usually bed by 9 in the morning and most won’t move till later in the evening but I’ll let you in on this ,,,there is way more quality bucks in the southern foot hills of the queens in the Lincoln…oh yeah hunting from a atv you will not get them big boys …there’s better bucks ,,,way better…

For those who don’t like long range hunting and think it’s because we can’t get close here’s some facts for you. The majority of long range hunters hunt multiple methods including archery. It’s not that we can’t get close it’s simply a different tactic. The long range hunter is actually better than the average hunter. We can do it all which makes us more accomplished and rounded. Outdoor life did a poll a while back and found that the average hunter shoots 16 rounds a year. That’s practice and hunting for a whole year. I did a poll of long range hunters to find out the average. 2100 long range hunters in 10 countries. The average long range hunter shoots 4,347 rounds per year. That means that the average long range hunter shoots 271 x more than the average hunter. The average hunter based off of this if they hunt and shoot for 50 years will shoot 800 rounds. That means the average long range hunter shoots 5.4 x more per year than the average hunter shoots in 50 years. The average long range hunter shoots more per year then most hunters shoot in their lifetime. Not to mention the difference in equipment. We spend a lot of money on our gear to make sure we can make the best shot possible. My range finder alone cost more than the average hunter’s complete rifle setup. I want the best range possible and the best data. I just upgraded to a 8000 yard range finder this year. $1500 for the range finder and that isn’t even diving into the guns and other equipment. Long range hunters dedicate more time and money into hunting than any other hunting group. In the off season we’re training and upgrading equipment. Why everyone else is relaxing we are getting ready for the next season. To claim that long range hunters are unethical, not hunters, can’t get close, etc is utter nonsense. If you want to actually look at who’s unethical, taking bad shots, wounding animals, loosing animals, etc. Look at the close range hunters who don’t practice running cheap equipment. Don’t believe the lies by guys who don’t like long range hunting. If you want to know about long range hunting then ask a long range hunter. Getting information from an anti long range hunter. That’s like asking peta for information about hunting. You are not going to get the truth from them.

Thanks for an informative video. Don’t own one yet but getting close. 😆 One question though, don’t you need to input information about weather conditions when the rifle was zeroed? I’d think temperature, humidity, altitude, etc. of your zero would affect things. If I zero my rifle in MO at 1000’ and 80% humidity in the summer, I would think the Kestrel would need that information if I’m out west at 8000’ and 30 degrees. Thanks again.

In 2022, I went bighorn sheep hunting with Carter Outfitting in Alberta. Before reviewing Carter’s Outfitting, I will first share some thoughts on sheep hunting in Alberta. It’s crucial to approach sheep hunting in Alberta with a clear understanding of the challenges. The resident hunting pressure is intense, much more than I had anticipated. Residents are allowed to hunt a week before nonresidents and guided hunters. On our way in, we saw three sheep taken by residents, all just barely meeting the legal requirements. While it’s their right, it makes finding a mature ram incredibly difficult. During our time in the mountains, rams were scarce and very skittish due to the resident hunting pressure from the previous week. I was fortunate to harvest a nice 7/8 curl ram and am grateful to Scott and his team for that. However, my experience is common among nonresident hunters in Alberta. If you’re aiming for a full curl ram, Alberta is not the place for you. If you would be disappointed with a three-quarter curl ram, I wouldn’t recommend hunting in Alberta as a nonresident. To hunt Alberta for bighorns, you must be willing to take the first ¾ curl you see, which is only likely at a 50% success rate (at best). You will be lucky to see one legal ram on your hunt! With all of that said, I wouldn’t hunt with Scott again for multiple reasons. First, because he did not fulfill his end of our agreement. Due to the numerous warnings about heavy hunting pressure in Alberta, I paid Scott to pre-scout the area. We agreed on having two guides prescouting for a week, but this was not done, even though he was paid to do so. The guides assigned to me did their best but were unaware of the arrangement and had not been in the area before my hunt. Second, after paying for an expensive hunt and successfully harvesting a beautiful ram, Scott mishandled the post-hunt trophy care, ruining my unique chocolate-colored cape. Imagine waiting a lifetime to hunt bighorns, to have the outfitter lose your cape, and then allow the hide to spoil! My memories of bighorn hunting are forever ruined every time I look at my ram. I have Scott Carter and his company to thank for that. I asked Scott to make it right and find me a new cape, but he treated me terribly and did nothing about it. Lastly, Scott is extremely arrogant. Scott controls over half of the nonresident sheep tags in Alberta, creating a near-monopoly. He employs a variety of guides, some of whom may not have worked with him before. His guides speak poorly about him behind his back. In my experience, he treats his hunters poorly and is unresponsive to calls, texts, or emails. I didn’t even know if the hunt was going to happen until a few weeks before departure, despite having paid in full years before. In summary, for a hundred-thousand-dollar hunt, my advice is to be cautious and consider other options. Scott lacks character and couldn’t care less about his clients
