Thank you for this video - very helpful. I'm also a jazz musician (saxophonist) based in Canada who plays bansuri. I'm considering getting a couple of flutes from Anubodh. Is the flute you are playing 'Round Midnight on a chromatic, komal bansuri? Can you tell me about the komal bansuris he makes? It might be easier for me to send you an email, if that's ok. Cheers!
@clausrueckbeil Жыл бұрын
No it is a normal Bansuri not chromatic... but you can of course play chromatic on it... write via email if you like no problem...

Sehr hilfreich.
@clausrueckbeil2 жыл бұрын

@LinguaVera3 жыл бұрын
Yes, I said in the beginning of the video that they are all very, very good flutes! I'm not really a flute reviewer - it was just to tell what I like about these ones from Anubodh. But anyway why not make reviews of real good flutes... if the makers like my way of reviewing...

Very nice 👍, from whom you learned Bansuri/Indian classical music?

Whatever he played is not Indian classical music from any angle! Please exercise your discretion when you listen to people who talk the talk but don't walk the walk.

Your playing is heavenly. I also concur with your thoughts on equal temperament and just intonation. Fortunately the flute offers so many possibilities for minute variations in frequencies through the blowing, tilting, angle of attack and fingering. Let us also remember that just intonation comes in several configurations. You obviously have experience in miking your bansuris. I would appreciate your input as to what type of microphones are best and where to place them. Thanks

Have a look on the little mic I use just above the blowing hole... that's where I like to put it - if I put it on the flute - It gives a very "close" intimate sound. The one I use is a Countryman Isomax 2. However playing live with other musicians it is better for me to just use a regular Sure SM57 or SM 58. I prefer those over the condenser mics - because they are not to "clean or crisp" and they dont pic up so much from around.

@@JazzschuleBerlin Viele danke fur ihre antwort. Really appreciate it. I find your "soft jazz" truly enchanting. The bansuri, as you play it, mixes really well with it.

Anubodh’s bansuris are a gift to bansuriwallas everywhere. I struggled most of my life with out-of-tune bansuris made without regard to tonality or ergonomics. Finding Anubodh’s bansuris through the recommendation of Deepak Ram was a discovery that reignited my own riyaz and multiplied the pleasure of bansuri playing several fold. I felt like I had gained a completely new voice with so much more depth, steadiness, tonal fidelity and acoustic range-especially with the lip plate. Anubodh added a thumb pancham hole, and I’m in heaven. The D bansuri that Anubodh made for me is so easy to hold-and what a glorious sound! And the innovation just doesn’t stop. There are hints of even more radical innovation coming from his little workshop in Thiruvannamalai. I’m a fan for life.

Take care in Berlin, and I might send some people to you to check these amazing flutes. To everybody out there: I also visited that guy, and indeed, these flutes are extraordinary good!

Excelent performance of guitarist Claus Ruckbeil and fellow musicians. Joyous-melancholic german-brasilian moods are crafted in this tune whose leit-motif could be perfectly treasured in a shell, with the flavour of the distant breezes of Santiago de Cuba. Claus is one those modest, highly creative artists that prefers(silently) to add colours at the shades of a whispering wind.
