Dude, you say sit down sometimes. Thats two conlicting commands at the same time. You use down for lie down. Thats not helping when you say that.

This is a result of someone investing a lot of time in training their Dobie. My Dobie does all this plus more. When I brought him home on March 8th, I gave him a week for us to adjust to each other. The first training was in house training. After that, we spent 3 - 5 hours per day, interspersed throughout the day. My boy is 7.5 months of age, such a great dog!

dogs are dumb anyway. Think of it this way. Dog lovers can’t wait to point out that cats will not do tricks, or fetch the newspaper, or any of that cute stuff. They use this as “proof” that dogs are smarter. Well this argument can be blown up very quickly. Do you think that humans are smarter than both dogs AND cats? Ok, good. If I threw a ball would YOU go running after it? Of course you wouldn’t! You’d consider it beneath you. Likewise, cats are too smart and sophisticated to demean themselves doing stupid tricks. They’re above that. The fact that dogs can be trained to do silly tricks only proves how gullible and malleable they are. Cats are smart enough to use the litter box. Dogs think the entire world is their toilet. Cats groom themselves, dogs have to be bathed. Cats are docile and well-behaved, while dogs sit outside and bark at everything that moves. The dog’s “thought” process (if one can even dignify that phrase) is “Oh my God, something twitched a half-mile away, I’d better start barking at it! Of course it didn’t help the last million times I did it, but I’m too dumb to know any better.” And cats are at least as good therapeutically. The one thing I will give dogs is that they do good service for things like helping the handicapped, sniffing for bombs, drugs, rescuing people. I’m not saying they’re useless. But that’s a sign of blind obedience, easy manipulation and behavior control, rather than intelligence.
