One of my FAVE things is talking to people I meet on the road like shop owners or tour guides or fellow campers/hikers, if I like them and wanna remember them I take a pic and give them a page and ask them to write a message/draw a pic-- whatever they want. I like to work on my journal as I go along-- sketching, writing, taping in interesting things I might find like a feather or a torn-out title from a brochure. I may print out and glue in some maps or photos later. But I love the personalized notes & revisit them often.

This is such a great post! Thank you so much for these tremendous ideas! You've given me a ton of things to think about and I can't tell you how much I appreciate that! To answer the very specific question about who I would cast in a biopic about my own life, it's a great question and it really makes you think about it for a second........born in the early '60s, so that being my age group, I would have to pick Hugh Grant, if he could pull off an American accent lol.

Do you ever add a thank you message to those that recorded videos at the end? I think the video is mainly for the birthday person so don't want to take the focus away from them especially at the end. Is thanking them after they've sent the video sufficient?

I made the song thing before changing the choruses of popular songs Also wrote poems with inside jokes and personal wishes And now looking for fresh ideas for my mom’s b-day I surfed KZbin videos and even didn’t hope to find such a cool ideas ! I even don’t know what to choose, all of them are so funny and nice , I think I’ll take several of them and use in one video Thanks for sharing , you made my life easier and inspired me for creation !

What mic do you recommend? Finding a good one has been a struggle for me.

Ooof, yeah. Mics can be the trickiest part of the whole deal! First, if you already have a mic, I'd play around with your settings and your surroundings to see if that improves things. Otherwise, I'd recommend a lav mic from Rode or a USB mic like a Blue Yeti depending on your setup. I have my favorites linked on my website!

It really depends so much on the settings people use and the camera type. I would say it's a good idea to have at least 5GB of space to be safe!

Amazon sells mini microphones that can clip on to your clothes and hook up to your phone. That could help with the audio for sure

Definitely! That's the thing smartphones struggle with the most especially from far away so a little audio support goes a long way!
