sorry man, had a bad day, music is in the ear of the beholder

Dude, you helped me out. My gat was all out of whack! I got into a bad habit of not tuning it up before a session because it sounds alright. All performers better themselves by giving ear to any critic. The critic is usually a fan of the good stuff: that's what I hold true. Thank you!

Romans 10:9-11 says, "If you confess with your mouth, 'Jesus is Lord,' and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved".Even so faith, if it hath not works, is dead, being alone. 18 Yea, a man may say, Thou hast faith, and I have works: shew me thy faith without thy works, and I will shew thee my faith by my works. 19 Thou believest that there is one God; thou doest well: the devils also believe, and tremble.😊😊

Thanks for the kind critique, but that's obviously my style, matingeddes. Also my style: To enjoy critiques from people who think Gregorian intonation's where it all begins and ends. Fine for church music, true. Blues and funk, rock and country all mine between the notes for brass, tinny dissonance, hearts' gold and true tongue's silver. I can't sing jazz at all, for instance. Jazz is the American musician's form par excellence. Sub par

Also my style: to tune it up the next day, in response to generous critique. Also my style: probably bent the notes so much that it's already out of tune. Ah well, the song's the main thing. Delivery's more for pros and perfect pitchers. Thanks again, m8151!

Thanks, Gr8gg! I have no want to be a band performer, myself. I do it (songwriting) just to get the songs. I'm a fan of bands, had fun in a few but it's ultimately a conflict of interest.

@@Elbemarle Interesting. I picked up the first meaning rather quickly. Not sure I understand the second meaning, "doing a thing she prays" combined with some of the other more notable lyrics in the song. Why do they "have to" save her life? Why can they "not" save her life?
@Elbemarle2 ай бұрын
@@lucymckinney9274 Hard to say for me. I don't put angels in that position. I can't see much prophet or profit in putting wings on things you can't even see to pin. I mean: why might anyone "have to" save one's own life, for instance? Nobody has to. So: nothing has to. There's what the heart wants, there's what happens, and there's what we tell ourselves, which is vain. This song isn't about any of those things. Just about a real, beautiful woman I know with a funny angle to her own halo. Don't think I can explain her, or that! No song in the world ever could. Definitely no song of mine could. No lyrics can mean anything except exactly each word in string, in any singular sense it has. No author's take is ever worth a jot or tittle more than the one taking it in's take. The one taking it in is ALWAYS authoritative. I have no truck whatever with those who believe in authorial pronouncement outside the finished work, as "authoritative." That's just lil' ol' me! No one should let MY take get in the way of their trivia enjoyment.

@Elbemarle3 ай бұрын
Apologies Bookhode: I don't know how to play any. I've seen many people butcher covers of the Beatles: I try not to. As you can probably see from this cut, I've only enough guitar to write four chord songs, punched-out simple and plain. This channel's not for covers generally, but for originals and those interested in originals. A Crowded House cover or two, I've practiced and uploaded that. One Tom Waits song at karaoke (charitably shot and uploaded by a friend). Those are big exceptions to me. I lack the chops to really put over another's song, sincerely. I thank you for the compliment, if you believed I could do justice to even the simplest song by that towering band. It's been done, but I've never proved able.

@joemom1012 FYI, I've been in bands since 1989. Respect to you is due (sight-unseen, sound unheard) for your brag about how many instruments you learned to be proud of mastering. We need more people like you than we ever needed like me. My bands? No names, because we change names, and anyone smart keeps the best ones for later (together with only the real people still living, who were in). If you can't even fathom who's in it for art, for songwriting not mere "arrangement" (all instruments = "arrangement"), who's anti-fame except with the real crowd at the show, who's not interested in art making them money because they'd rather do real work in a real industry that saves lives and improves them measurably? That's cool. We don't know each other! NO NEED TO EMPHASIZE THE FACT: you either got no ear, or you got no soul. Own your own, Joemom! I just do.

You have really put in the hard work in the process of mastering the guitar.
@Elbemarle3 ай бұрын
I'm abashed. Thank you. I have honestly tried not to. No kid, there! I never in my life wanted to get past fun, in guitar or in billiards (or shockingly: in chess). I never pushed past "playing around and through" in my guitar chop and hack fret skills. Believe me, when my left arm hurts, I hang that mother up for months. I get the repetitive-motion stress pain in my left forearm and wrist when I try to go all plinky-diddle-deedle-DREE! WRAAAR! You know what I mean. Thank you, for saying what you did. It's wisdom from the other side. Showing me an oft-neglected (by me) truth: sheer joy in play, in pure fun with no other motive, CAN BE the hard work one needs to wrest competence from abject laziness. By my lights, though? In my sails and scales? I'm no master. Not yet, probably not ever. I can't even rip off a half-decent solo, and that's no false modesty. I talk too much about process though for sure.
