Don't fill a cup, that's a shitty thing to do, it's for everyone and there's a daily limit. If it runs out, it is not refilled until the next day. It's cheap wine and you can buy a bottle there for like 2 Euros/dollars. Filling the shell is the right amount to be able to share with others stopping there and not be entitled. Not saying OP is, just a general rule. It's meant for pilgrims who are walking hundreds of miles.

The total cost of my Camino Frances was about 400€. If you try to stay in donativo albergues and eat self cooked meals, it’s easy to survive with a day budget of 7-10€. But this applies only to the Frances. The Camino Del Norte is much more expensive.

Yikes. I've done two Caminos and about to start my third, and I've never spent more than like €15/night but I always stay in municipal albergues if I can.
@aprilstarchild79
@aprilstarchild79 9 ай бұрын
Prices have gone up. I did the Frances in April/May this year. Cheapest were the municipal hostels in Galicia (which were 8 euros) but even those have gone up in price since--and also, you're often not allowed to use their kitchens, so you have to eat most meals at a bar/cafe/restaurant, which often negates any cost saving. I preferred donativos/municipal/parroquial albergues myself, mostly because I liked the other folks who tended to stay in them. And the communal meals (at places that had them) were often pasta, which is my favorite food anyway. I budgeted for fifty euros a day, and yeah some days were WAY cheaper, but a handful of days were unexpectedly more expensive, so I was glad I'd given myself that cushion. I did stay in hotels a few nights, too; because a private room and real towels were such an indulgence after a while!

@@Andy-Mesa I stayed at multiple municipal hostels in Galicia where we were forbidden from using the kitchen. There was a couple more where there was no pots or pans, just a sink and a minifridge, plus tables and chairs. *Maybe* a microwave. The municipal hostel in Triacastela had a minifridge in the hallway and nothing else.
