The scenery you could see while driving for a long time was nice, but your camping spot was even better because it was a natural landscape. I also enjoy camping, but I was able to learn a lot from you through this video. That's really cool.

To be honest with ya, not much, if I wear these most of the time I just wear either a pair of long johns, or sweat pants and they fit perfectly, I could fit them over just regular pants and they would fit fine, but just for comfort I just go with the longs or sweats. I have gained alittle weight since I got them so they fit alittle snugger than before, but with the elastic in the waistband and then the pull strap I don’t have to tighten it that much.

I use to live there during 1984-86, back in the holler. My dad was a preacher and we use to attend the church in garrett, Kentucky with the Red door in front. Theres a bank that was built in front of the church but the church is still there. God...I really REALLY MISS LIVING THERE!! And going to Dewy lake for a swim as well as fishing.

Hi, thanks for sharing. Not too many videos on the Hellcat mod. I also done this to my medium ALICE, like it a lot. I also added the hip belt and 2 MOLLE Sustainment pouches to either side of the pack. Just have to figure out what and what not to pack. Have you ever carried a tent instead of a hammock in or on your pack? what's driving me nuts is where to put it! Sorry, unfortunately I do not like hammocks, never been in to tarp camping. Always used a tent, don't want to get eaten alive all night by bugs in the summer, and winters here where I'm at are brutal.

Jeff Richards yeah i have a tent, well I have two really, a 1.5 person and a two person. Personally I have got a down sleeping bag so it can pack down smaller and be lighter weight. So I stick my tent and my sleeping bag in my sleep system carrier. Just remember the more space you have the more you will be wanting to fill it with things you might not need. For me I am down to my shelter, my sleep system, a good fire kit, some kind of pot and a water storage container. A good flashlight and some back up batteries or back up charger, food. I try to go with the less as possible that way I can practice my skills and so I won’t have to carry so much weight lol. Thanks for watching!!
@jeffrichards5106
@jeffrichards5106 6 жыл бұрын
Thanks Bo, appreciate you replying. I wanted to have a decent quality tent that's lightweight. I would like something that isn't bright red, yellow or orange so that if I had to bug out. Plus I like to blend into the woods when I'm camping anyways instead of having some obnoxious color. I recently bought a Eureka military TCOP tent because it's woodland camo and a good tent, but it's quite heavy, almost 7 lbs. Can I ask what tents you use? I thought about placing the tent on the bottom but the M.S.S. sleep system is there now and with my sleeping bag (especially for winter) takes up the whole carrier. Thought about maybe putting the tent under the top flap of the pack and the poles inside the pack, and the stakes in one of the 3 outside pouches. Then if I want to bring either a self -inflating pad or a foam pad (like a Thermarest) where to put that? and not having my bag weigh a ton at the same time lol.

A Kephart knife is supposed to have a four and a half inch blade, and I've found that's definitely the best length for what I do in the wild. That one came out great. Pretty, too.

You can do everything you need to with this kind of project, and a lot of others, if all you have is a Dremel. Or one of the Dremel clones that will take Dremel attachments, which is nearly all of them. The Black & Decker has twice as much torque as the Dremel, and if you want to go cheaper, I found that I like the Wen tool better than the Dremel, though B&D has them both beat. But it's amazing what you can do with any of these tools. You can even make a knife from scratch with just a rotary tool, a few attachments, and a couple of files.

PS - about thinner blades -= if you have good steel and a good heat treat, a thinner blade is great. Most of us are not really having to baton logs in the wilderness in our real-life situations. So many videos have people 'testing' their knives by doing insane, destructive things, but for many years when my health wsa up to it, I could handle anything that i encountered in the woods with a Becker BK 9 for heavy use, and a Mora with a thin blade, for 90 per cent of everything else.
@jamesaritchie1
@jamesaritchie1 6 жыл бұрын
No one ever has to baton with a knife, even in a "survival" situation. Never. It not only means you don't have the right tools, it also means you don't know how to use the tool you have, ad don't have a clue how to prepare a piece of wood for a fire. Knives are made for cutting, and thin blades cut better than thick blades. It's even silly to have a big knife with a thick blade in a survival situation, despite what ex-soldier, Rambo wannabes say. They were NOT taught peacetime wilderness style survival in the military.
@Julian-bq9qv

Old Hickory knives are almost addictive as they are good steel, cheap, and they just BEG the owner to modify them... handles, sheaths, etc. You did some good work, but sorry you got jerked around so long on your parts.
