I like the multiverse aspect, but I dislike that Elizabeth is 'looking' for the Booker that becomes Comstock to end him and prevent it all, and while THIS Booker wants to just move on from what happened, and live a normal life with Elizabeth, she insists on showing him what happened, and telling him what will happen, if not him that becomes Comstock, another will. She sets him in motion to hunt Comstock and stop him for taking Elizabeth. And then when he is determined, after being shown everything, she gives him the choice he originally would've rejected, asking "are you sure this is what you want". As if to say, she doesn't want him to go down this path. As if to say, she now, could be okay with a normal life. But obviously, Booker isn't thinking clearly, how could he? He's just been given so much information and is now emotional. He believes it's his path to stop Comstock and save Elizabeth. And so, upon making this choice, Elizabeth steps aside, and allows this Booker to take the place of the Comstock she was looking for, and die as Comstock, stopping the legacy of Comstock from happening...

Something that confuses me is how does drowning the Booker we played as change anything? Shouldn't be Booker's younger self?

This ending still blows me away after all these years. One of the best games out there. It introduced me the concept of the multiverse without even saying the word.

Little something to add to the poignancy. Right before Booker is drowned, he's confused when he sees Elizabeth going "no, you're not..." Take a close look and you'll see the Elizabeth he says that to isn't wearing the brooch you chose for her early in the game. In fact, none of the Elizabeths that drown Booker at the end are wearing the brooch. In the end, your Elizabeth knew you had to die... but she didn't have the heart to kill you herself.

I remeber playing this when it came out and abiut halfway through my save got bugged and i figured it was the game that was broken so i never finished it. About a decade later, im sitting around and find it in a drawer and decide to give it a shot again. Once i got to experience this ending and the credits came up i put the controller down and was in shock for almost 29 mins. THIS IS WHAT I HAD BEEN MISSING FOR A DECADE!!!! Incredible twist ending i did not see coning and loved every second of it

Its shoehorned in a bit but still good. Blah blah blah parallel universes paradoxes plot holes, still was done well, plot doesn't have to be complicated and error free to be compelling

My brother always enjoyed watching me play video games. Luckily, he was over when I finished this one. I will never forget it. I finished it. We watched the credits. Neither of us spoke for 15 minutes. We were absolutely blown away. We couldn’t put into words what we’d just seen. The best ending to a video game ever.

12:17 You know, other stories will present the conundrum of going back in time to kill someone as a baby before they've even done anything yet. "Would you go back in time to kill baby Hitler?" and whatnot. Booker doesn't even think twice about smothering baby Comstock to death. I know they're preoccupied, but it's almost comical how no one seems to object or call him out on it.
@jamesb19886 ай бұрын
It's because the Lutices/Elizabeth (Anna) were already aware of what the sitcheeashun was. There wasn't going to be any baby strangling.

The gameplay sucked big time but this is peak storytelling. The ending is on par with RDR2 and Ghost of Tushima

Would that also mean that Elizabeth was never in Rapture to release Atlas from prison? He never got the chance to start the civil war because Atlas stayed trapped in "Fontaines department store" which was sunken, and used for a prison.

It’s fascinating to see that once Elisabeth got the full entirety of her powers she became very monotone very indifferent. I think it’s because once she is basically a multiversal godlike being she knows and is almost everything that will and won’t happen human emotions are kinda way down the line for her now

si, los nuevos niveles estan demasiados llenos de cosas, la mayoria de estructuras esta en globos, esta lleno de diamantes y mecanismos raros para rascar puntos porque son muy complicados de conseguir y encima esta lleno de estructuras indestructibles

13:15 Booker: "Of course it is. I remember-wait. *You’re not... you’re not... who are you?”* I played this game so many years ago and just now realized one important thing about this scene. I think Booker wasn't referring to the other Elizabeths when he asked "Who are you?" but to the main Elizabeth. Why?… because this is not OUR Elizabeth, because she doesn't have a cameo. That's why Booker is so confused and says, "You’re not... You’re not... who are you?" He wanted to say to her, "You're not my Elizabeth."
