You'll always choose to be a liar won't you "CHUMPsky." The Soviet Union was the socialism you wanted put into practice. People did not want to participate in their garbage ideology. So force was implemented on all levels. The Bolsheviks lost elections, so they overthrew elections in the name of people's dictatorships. Only after the population was sufficiently brainwashed after generations did they hope the system will be able to stand on its own. By then, also hopefully spreading to the rest of the world since it's such a failure in comparison to opposing systems based in reality, it can't survive in common existence as even Marx ironically claimed. You're a cultish lying propagandist.

The problem with socialism is not per se socialism, it's human beings. For one, leadership should never ever own anything. Greed is man's problem, everything else pales to the evil that greed is. And socialism has always made it possible for weak men to lay hands on huge sums of money, and therefore power and control. Socialism has never ever worked anywhere, at least not anywhere where humans were in control. And history proves that fact over and over ad neauseam. Sorry Chomsky uses intelligence to make something aweful sound like everyone should have it. I lived in a socialist country, and trust me when it went wrong, it went horribly wrong.

Well i get that, trough the eyes of a socialist, "real" socialism has never been succsessfully established. But you also have to ask yourself why it keeps on failing. It is quiet simple: in order to gain controll over your workplace or means of production, the people will need to transver the Power to some kind of Force (usualy the state) to make that happen. And there is the problem. Once you give power to some Force it will not give that power away once your goal is reached. Concentrating power to lessen or remove opression will never work. You need to decentralise as much as possible instead.

Dummy: when you aggregate power into a massive socialist state, it naturally BECOMES something like Russia. Or China. Or Cuba. TRUE socialism has never been achieved because it always devolves into a tyranny. It is structured so that dicks like Stalin flourish and seize power and muck it all up. Socialism misunderstands and misjudges human behaviour. That's why it's a bad idea.

Imagine the notion of a society where the essentials to life were not privatised, where profit could not be extracted from monopoly or necessity, where endeavour was favoured above opportunism then you might begin to see what a collectivist approach may offer. Neo-liberalism has taken 40 plus years to achieve the current form of society where human rights are exchanged for profit. Without government you wouldn’t have this anti competitive, morally bankrupt rigged system and yet we hold socialism to account for the possibility that it might serve the many. Socialism is not anti profit it is anti power imbalance through political influence. If we want a free market then we need to decouple ourselves from the rigged game and let endeavour and the value of labour expressed through competition once again be our economic standard.

Typical no true Scotsman fallacy. The Soviet Union was 100% socialist and 100% communist, socialism is a ideology, it does not require anyone or any country to act anything. If Soviet called herseldf socialist, that means she was socialist. Soviet union, Nazi Germany, Pol Pot's Cambodia and Saddam's Iraq etc were all 100% socialist. Democracy is the system based on citizens physically exercise the act of voting, and therefore is testifiable, verifiable and falsifible. Socialism is not.

Socialism is literally founded upon taking power away from the few (owners of the means of production) and giving it back to the working class. Capitalism is inherently anti democratic and socialism is the obvious solution to it. I do not believe in anarcho-socialism, so I want to see where he actually makes an argument for it instead of spouting history facts and left wing talking points. It's really disappointing whenever Chomsky talks abut the Soviet Union or any other real world socialist experiments. He knows so much about so many things, and seems to do a lot of independent research, but with the Soviet Union he just takes the liberal propaganda at face value and goes right along with it. I mean he sometimes makes even more absurd statements than the liberals do. The Soviet Union was slavery? Seriously? The abolishment of it was a victory of socialism? LOL. C'mon man. Workers had so much more control before in Russia than they do now.
@viacheslavko69235 жыл бұрын
can't agree that workers control of production is a core virtue of socialism, the core feature is the redistribution of the income and dismissal of private property on means of production, the workers' control is simply impossible. There was naive and primitive socialism in the USSR and it had nothing to do with any totalitarian regime that was democratic in the core. Just think in terms of car sharing of AI as a state planning board that will replace erroneous human decisions
