Maybe it takes some of you 2 minutes to wash your hair, but for me, with long straight hair, it’s more like half an hour, with all the scrubbing and rinsing. I started using a combing technique while living in an RV with a very small water heater, and no heater in the shower area. I just didn’t want to take showers more than necessary because I would get chilled, and it was hard to get the shampoo and conditioner washed out before running out of hot water. Instead, I would do sponge baths at the sink, and brush and comb my hair, delaying having to take a shower as long as possible. The combing technique really does get the itchy stuff off your scalp and remove that sticky greasy feeling from the hair. I didn’t use cornstarch, so that wasn’t the cause. It’s just dried sweat, which is salt, oils and dead skin, lint, and dirt/pollen/whatever’s in the air. I went 3 months without taking a shower once. Once we got a house, I was out of the habit of showering a lot, and now it’s 1 to 2 weeks, depending on the weather. I do like the way it feels when I’ve just washed it, but I usually don’t want to spend time on it, and I do enjoy brushing and combing my hair. I can see how it might not be pleasant or practical for someone with very curly or nappy hair, though.

Congratulations on the new book, it looks great! I'm going to pop over to Amazon and take a better look. I've only just found your channel and so forgive me if I'm not up to date with where things are with your health. I saw a video from 3 yrs ago where you were explaining about life when you're feeling better/after ME and then one close to it where I think you're describing POTS? I wanted to ask if there was anything specific that created your improvement then in ME, especially re the fatigue? Has that been permanent or has the fatigue part now returned. Very best wishes and I think it's great that you've put energy into producing such a useful book for people x

Wet hair with warm water in the shower then pour jug of warm water and 1 tablespoon of bicarbonate of soda stirred into the jug of warm water over your hair and rub your scalp with your fingers concentrating on rubbing the bicarb solution to the roots then rinse in shower and finally, pour 1 cup of water water mixed with a capful of apple cider vinegar over your hair then rinse under the shower and voila, all done.

Looking at your fingers u look like u have hyper mobility - my daughters have it EDS type that can also cause some of the things you are saying and POTts . You may already know all that! I have fibromyalgia as one of my many but I kind of ignore that as my Lupus overshadows it . I am 48 and have been house bound for almost 20 years and now have home care. Good luck to you and although I’m not up to painting my wheel chair - I’m going to spray my crutches! 😂

Shiny, bouncy hair that smells like flowers, I am trying this! I already started using rye flour to wash my hair with. So next step would be washing it less often and using my natural oils to coat the hair shaft. I actually bought a natural boar bristle brush and a wooden comb for this purpose. Ditching shampoo is amazing for the scalp, no more greasiness, itching and flakes.

I would add that it is important to use the combination of a wooden comb (both fine tooth and wide tooth) to detangle and remove dirt and dandruff, and use a boar bristle brush to absorb and distribute/ pull the hair serum (natural scalp oil) down to the rest of the hair shaft. The whole saying of 100 strokes with a brush a day was done using a boar bristle brush to fully clean and remove excess serum or oils from the scalp and hair. Make sure to clean the brush each day to remove the serum and oils from previous night. I notice a huge change at how my hair looks and feels. It is thicker, shiner and silkier after I do the comb and brush hair washing method. I only wash once a month with water due to coloring my hair. I am slowly turning gray naturally so just dye my hair silver to just embrace it; plus I can save on shampoo because I could just pomade and powder my hair like 18th century ladies did. I feel that there is a conspiracy with hair washing using those harsh commercial products. We were lied to, so they can profit off on the insanity. PS: Like you, I too noticed that I don't experience excessive oily scalp as before. I can go longer weeks without washing. It is almost to the point of going two whole months without washing. Again, we were lied to. We were told that our European hair texture needs to be washed more often than black women hair, but that is a lie. ALL hair is made of the same keratin, regardless of texture, keratin hates water. Protein breaks down more in water. So the no-shampoo method benefits all texture.

I loved this! You could add essential oils to the cornstarch to get a nice smell on your hair too. Or even mix it with cinnamon. I've been watching videos about historical hygiene methods. An interesting thing is that women who washed their hair less, also could grow it extremely long. I mean, floor length. Of course, they would keep it clean with dry methods, like combing, and use braids.
@stresslessmessless4376
@stresslessmessless4376 Жыл бұрын
Hello this is me but just using my other channel… I don’t mix anything with the starch as that can make it gooey and horrid instead if I want to make my hair smell extra nice I simply put a couple of drops of essential oil into my hands and rub them until they are dry and then pull my fingers through my hair and massage my scalp. But honestly once your hair gets used to it it will smell lovely anyway… the only time I do the essential oils is if I have been cooking over open flame outside and that’s just to get rid of the Smokey smell.

For me, baths and showers (including washing my hair, which is relatively short tbf) are my biggest relaxation time. I consider it the purest form of self care I know how to do, as doing it cares for myself both physically and mentally. Which that being said, I have always had very oily hair and skin, and as I’ve gotten older, I’ve learned more and better techniques to make the most of it. Oil-free face moisturizers so my skin doesn’t over-compensate for dryness by producing extra oils, for example. Sulfate-free shampoos. This technique I think will really help me between washes, because as much as showers are practically ritual ablution at this point, it can get difficult to take care of myself sometimes.
