I’m wondering if Austin has any live/work artist lofts that have the industrial feel with pipes showing and exposed beams, silver tubes (similar to what you can get in DTLA and Brooklyn)?

Much better town in the 70's and 80's before developers practically ruined the area....oh and for those of you living in Tonkawan Springs you'll be surprised to know you're living on an indian burial ground that was paved over in 1977

Dollar Store Megan Markle is just as annoying as the real one. “So you don’t even need to leave the comfortability of your own unit” and “hand painted with some of the most reflective material on earth”. Jesus have some one help you with your script.

One of the Final Nails in the Gentrification Coffin was the Lockdowns… I lived Cesar Chavez/Chicon Area & 90% of my neighborhood was bought in 1 Summer🫤

Great grandfather had a house on e. Cesar Chavez and willow st. Area. I drive down that way and cannot recognize it all. Pushing out the minority by putting up 35 was not enough. Further and further out we go. Enjoy the smell of urine from all the homeless camps.

Austin native here. This side of town was gentrified. It’s a dirty side of town that they renovated. These are halfway houses and crack houses with a new paint job.
@didadadiva512
@didadadiva512 Жыл бұрын
I literally grew up in the east side, and trust there are still plenty of crack/meth houses 🏚 right next door or in the alleys behind the places that she showed. The gentrification is forcing natives to sell or go into foreclosure due to the rise in taxes then they build the condo’s, or simply slap some paint on and quadruple the price before the little old ladies forced from their homes can even unpack at the retirement homes their forced to go into.

New construction in Barton Hills cost a lot more than 1,500 a square foot. The new construction is normally dual occupancy, two + homes squeezed onto one property they cost about $2million more than my home "I live in the same neighborhood" and they're about half the size of my house. I do agree it is the best neighborhood in Austin and if you move here don't put your kids in Barton Hills Elementary go to Zilker Elementary. There are two schools in the neighborhood. Unless you have a choir kid. Imo the only thing good about Barton Hills Elementary is there choir program. The teachers are good it's the administration you're going to have problems with they don't take responsibility for their mistakes they would rather you withdraw your child then admit they did not follow their own procedures. Honestly if you have the money to live in Barton Hills you have the money to put your kid in private school, AISD is TRASH. there are great academies around the Austin area if you can afford to stay out of AISD.

Do yourself a favor, don’t move to Texas unless you love traffic, crowded restaurants, bars, hospitals, questionable electric power, zero leadership and no water. You’ll thank me later 😊 It’s not what it used to be.

Sorry, i would never live in Austin. The city is dirty, there's homeless people everywhere, crime is on the rise, traffic is a nightmare, and the people there are not very brite. Plus it's super noisy with all the construction going on. Only a crazy person would choose Austin...stay away!

Property taxes are totally out of control, and dramatically impacting the downward spiral of real-estate prices. Out in Dripping Springs, most homes come with a $15,000-20K property tax bill. With that additional expense, buyers can't afford what should be the market value of the homes. Add that to interest rates, nobody wants pay 3X as much to the bank an school district than they are on their actual house.
