Help! I’ve always been taught to not use acrylic paint over oil. Should I use oil paint to do the glaze? And how would the crackle texture work on an oil painting?
@johnhobbs621

Really interesting, thank you. The streaks from the crackle don't work for me, but the hand especially worked well. Just a thought, here you're using a primed canvas on a thin stretcher. If I were you I'd buy better quality stretcher bars, the thicker ones which hold the canvas away from their edge, and stretch the raw linen yourself with tacks. It would give much more of an aged and quality look, also would look better when you scrape through with a knife. You could also consider buying old paintings at a flea market and painting on top of the original painting for instant aging.

I suppose we can download the final design, so we can print it in a 3rd party high quality printer (that we do not have at home), right?

A good video. I learned some techniques but I did not like the brush or swipe marks left on the painting. The crackle effect I liked very much.

Really love the line weigth for the inks! The pen is often not the issue, but the handling and what happens around it. While drawing with traditional, I found it easier starting up on the top-left corner of the live area, and progress across & down to the bottom-right corner, and that technique saved me from smudging (while also throwing a sheet of towel/paper underneath the palm so not to drag the hand when making contact with the live area).

I LOVE it when you click on a craft video and the very first thing you need is an expensive piece of complex electronics or gear. Maybe put “circuit stamp stickers” in the title.

I personally love paint markers and they definitely do have their quirks. paint markers tearing paper is nothing new, but you went with a good choice when you used Bristol. but any other paper I highly, highly recommend priming with acrylic gesso a few layers. it takes experimenting with how you like to use paint markers.
@ironq.3667
@ironq.3667 3 жыл бұрын
I should note, I have not used this brand. I use posca and they tear my paper pretty bad if I don't prime. there are also oil based paint markers which are pretty okay on paper (I use mostly mixed media sketchbooks). priming just makes it so much more enjoyable without worry about tearing
