why put paper on a rubber vise thinking that will do anything different then the rubber? did you purposely embed metal in the rubber? how does this magical rubber put scratches in laminated metal?

I've been picking on and off for years. Never enough to get really good but I can usually open most intermediary locks. Found one of these on the ground about months ago and decided to try and open it today. Imagine my surprise when I got into what I thought was a false set only for the core to come out lmao. It was also set up for 7 pin so that was cool too.

Another great video. An alternative method to yours is to first remove the core retaining pin and drop out the cylinder. The drivers and springs come out with a tap and some assistance from gravity. Then using an appropriate length pin, push out the 5 or 6 driver plugs from the cylinder pushing outwards. They pop out satisfyingly. You can now reuse these same plugs on reassembly. I’ve done this many times and it’s impossible to tell. Enjoy.
@RowanHay-q5l

Edit, you also push out the locking pawl plug from the inside out also.

Again, how very interesting. Using this video I was able to date an old Lockwood 234 which has been in my family since new. Circa 1965. Slim body with chamfered shoulder. If you haven’t already could I suggest a “walk through “ of that beautiful catalogue you referenced. I’m sure folks would find it beneficial. Thank you so much!
@KeylessEntry
@KeylessEntry Жыл бұрын
I’m glad this video helped you identify and date your 234. The slim body with shoulder were released after the 1965 model which was a fat body type. I’d guess yours would be early to mid 70s. I received a copy of the catalogue from Paul Springett who has a KZbin channel also, he has covered it in a video. I may do a separate video to show the catalogue in case they haven’t seen Paul’s video. Thanks for watching and take care. PS apologies for the late reply, always playing catch up on the comments.

Following on from this conversation, what year did you think Lockwood stopped machining the shoulders on the slim body models? The mid 70’s perhaps. I have plenty of straight shoulder Lockwood padlocks but only two with angled shoulders.
@KeylessEntry
@KeylessEntry Жыл бұрын
@@RowanHay-q5l I’d say your guess is spot on. I would say mid to late 70s but it’s very hard to find any information stating an actual year. I do plan on finding/collecting more Lockwood products catalogue so I can create a more accurate timeline.

@@KeylessEntry man that’s way cool! That’s actually really awesome. When we were teenagers(four of us brothers) all got stoner dots on our hands. I know it wasn’t the coolest idea, but that wasn’t the point. It was to signify our brotherhood. Guy almost covered mine with my owl tattoo. Had him moving it asking why would ya assume I wanted to cover that? He didn’t even have a good reason😳🤣. Said hell no man that means something to me. Out of the four of us 2 passed, one in a boat fire, other sunk in Bering Sea 🌊. The third is so far strung out, sadly I don’t see him living much longer. Been to hospitals 3 times in past year and they say his heart can’t take anymore… but dam if I can convince him to give it up. Even offered him sanctuary to do it. But anyhow I get the significance of that. Very awesome homie. If it wasn’t for me knowing the tattoo guys I’d never have the art I do. Has been a god send to me. Hell last time I payed 20 an hour(and ofcource tipped) and it took 3 1/2. Most places woulda charge atleast 600-700 not 60 bucks! So yeah they treat me right. I think I’m up to bout 40’sh or so. Would love my whole body done. Well except my face🤷🏼😝. But t one things right! I still struggle with doing these or getting new locks or picks…… I have a few more to do then I think I’m done for a little while. Been working on my neck. Gonna work on throat maybe next month. It’s my bday so it’s gonna be something awesome! I have next 15 Tattoo’s picked out. Just where to put em and how much I can afford. Even at them prices I have to be selective 🫣🤣.
