Currently getting qualified on manual cold spray using aluminum with an SST platform for use in supersonic military aviation and I can honestly say this is some of the greatest tech I’ve dealt with in my 30-years of military aviation. I absolutely love it. It’s a game changer and a huge money saver and life extender on any platform.

Hi, the process looks awesome. But what kind of gas is being used there, and what is the purity of the gas?

The process gas is nitrogen. The source of that is standard liquid nitrogen which is very cheap and getting pressurized and evaporated on site.

I once read about 3D printing with metal. I am guessing that technology is related to Cold Spray.

Will any post treatment (heat treatment ) methods is needed? As this coating will be of highly deformed particles.

Wow, used to believe that the cold spray's just for surface treatment, turns out to be a useful way to 3D print as well! Amazing work! Btw, a bit of BGM could really spice up the videos!

Might be hard, still takes that nozzle to accelerate the deposited particles to supersonic rates. Could go to the consumer market but more like garage-sized machinery I guess.

It is fantastic thing. I'm encouraged by your vedio. 2 year ago, I made cylinderical Cu sputtering target for CIGS solar cell which is 1 meter using Cold Spraying. I hope I will set-up 5/11 system.
