a question , How DMAIC is Define-Measure-Improve-Analyze-Control ?? in that case it should be DMIAC isn't it??
@colorless_766 күн бұрын
It's a common point of confusion, but DMAIC stands for Define, Measure, Analyze, Improve, Control. The sequence of the phases is intentional and reflects the logical flow of the methodology: Define: Identifying the problem and setting goals. Measure: Collecting data to understand the current process performance. Analyze: Identifying root causes of the issues based on the data collected. Improve: Developing and implementing solutions to address those root causes. Control: Ensuring that the improvements are sustained over time. The order is crucial because each phase builds on the previous one. You first define the problem before measuring it, analyze the data to understand it, implement improvements based on that analysis, and finally control the process to maintain those improvements. So, while it might seem logical to think of it as "Define-Measure-Improve-Analyze-Control," the established order of "DMAIC" reflects the systematic approach of the methodology.

The center line of a control chart is not a target. It is the average performance. Targets can be found on other Lean Six Sigma tools but they are never on control charts. Control charts are voice of the process tools and a target is a voice of the customer concept.
@sixsigmaglobalinstitute6 ай бұрын
Thank you for your insightful comment! You are absolutely correct. The center line on a control chart represents the average performance of the process, not a target. Targets, which reflect customer expectations and desired performance levels, are indeed found on other Lean Six Sigma tools. Control charts are designed to be "voice of the process" tools, highlighting actual process performance and variations, while targets are "voice of the customer" concepts. Your explanation is spot on and a great clarification for everyone. Thanks for contributing to the discussion!

Thank you for saying it in 30 seconds! Lean Six Sigma is about achieving better Customer Value. I know how that important that is, but I really don't want to do that kind of logistical job. In my opinion, this is for people with aspirations to be in "Management". I like to work "for" Management, as an Engineer, but I NEVER want to become a Manager myself. They give me objectives and goals, and I make them into "reality"; aka "products". I like working in the Lab too much!

@michaelluchesi62963 жыл бұрын
This is non-sense when Bill Smith at Motorola came up with this he never put any of this in the process. There is no governing body of six sigma and no one sets the rules on how or what you do in six sigma. Just use your common sense and don't buy into this stuff, champions, executive sponsor, process owners, white belts or any other of this garbage, stick to proven Quality methods like Deming said, not a gimick.
@michaelluchesi62963 жыл бұрын
There is no one best for this, there is no governing body or offical accreditation for this any company can train their employess in Six Sigma and most large ones do themselves. Over 2 dozen universites offer this but if you wait till you are working for a company it is better to go through their training and get it from the company you are working for.
@sixsigmaglobalinstitute3 жыл бұрын
Hi Michael, Yes you are correct there is no central governing body or official accreditation when it comes to Six Sigma. Here at SSGI we work directly with academia, government and industry. For example, we are the Lean Six Sigma training and certification partner with the Baldrige Foundation, nationally know for the Malcom Baldrige Quality Award, backed by the president of the United States. Through partnerships like these and the direct partnerships we have formed, you can find SSGI training offered directly within many Fortune 500 companies across North America. Our programs are offered internally at organizations such as Walmart, Eversource and Humana. We also partner with Universities across the country such as USC, UNH, Ivy Tech, Miami Dade, Murray State, U-Arkansas and others. You can see our info listed directly on their websites. To learn more about our recognition take please feel free to look here: www.6sigmacertificationonline.com/is-ssgi-certification-recognized/
